Tent Rental

Jordyn, on October 14, 2021 at 10:45 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 4
Hiiiii ladies! I am hoping to be a 2022 bride but I’m having difficulties finding a venue! Contemplating renting a tent and creating my own! Has anyone done a tent reception? Is it super expensive? Was it worth it? I have all the questions.

I didn’t do this, but did explore the idea. Based on what I found, it would be slightly less expensive than a venue except 10000 more difficulties and frustration. You need to think not only about rentals for the tent and catering, but tables, chairs, linens, dishes, BATHROOMS! So many things not only to find and coordinate but also that could go wrong. If you’re super detail oriented and aggressive with finding all of the vendors, go for it. But it’s a lot of work and I’m not sure you’ll save much money.

I had a tent reception in June and the logistics were crazy and stressful. I recommend tent weddings for small weddings, less than 50 people.

In the end it cost about as much as a venue and we only saved on tip. We also were responsible for all the clean up. So after everyone left, I was stuck doing dishes on my wedding day. (My guests had already helped so much, I didn't want to ask them for anything more.)

Let me know if you have more questions, I'd be happy to answer.

We ruled out a venue because they highly recommended a tent (to protect from heat or rain). A basic tent cost $5K in Napa! Good thing we didn’t book that venue because it rained on our wedding day. The venue we chose had a perfect outdoor covered area for the ceremony and a rad wine cave for the reception.
