TERRIBLE Wedding Songs

I wanted to make a fun post! Has anyone went to a wedding where the DJ played something completely inappropriate for a wedding??? Or maybe tell us a song you absolutely do not want for your first dance or at your reception. One of the most hilarious (my mother would use the term mortifying) stories...

I wanted to make a fun post! Has anyone went to a wedding where the DJ played something completely inappropriate for a wedding??? Or maybe tell us a song you absolutely do not want for your first dance or at your reception.

One of the most hilarious (my mother would use the term mortifying) stories from my parent's wedding centers around their first dance.

After they went to the dance floor, the DJ decided to get creative with his song choice. He played "As we lay" by Shirley Murdock, made popular again by Kelly Price years later. If you don't know this song, it's about two lovers laying in bed the morning after and realizing they have to go back home to their spouses.

Now that I'm planning a wedding this story gets brought up a lot. And I plan to have a very detailed list of songs to be played/not played.

I will always love you by Dolly Parton. Below are some of the song lyrics

    If I should stay

I would only be in your way

My cousin did this weird strip teasish type dance all over the groom while Selena Gomez "Can't keep my hands to myself" played..... After a super awkward 2mins of her making his already shitfaced self motorboat her, she propped her leg up on his knee and he went in and searched for the garter ... I felt uncomfortable... It was disgusting.. I can't listen to that song anymore...

If Adele, Beyonce, or Don't Stop Believin by Journey plays at our wedding, I'm going to flip shit.

I don't care what my DJ plays as long as there isn't cursing or anything super crude. If it has a good beat I'll be dancing.

My FH and I have a running joke about what our first dance song will be, and always try to pick the most inappropriate song we can think of.

    Contenders include:

    OPP - Naughty By Nature

    Bad Touch - Bloodhound Gang

    Last Name - Carrie Underwood

Bubble Butt (dedicated to my behind) - Major Lazer

Another One Bites the Dust - Queen

The Sound of Settling - Death Cab

To name a few. It's a very fun game to play.

I used to bartend receptions at the restaurant I worked at. Probably the worst I've heard was a DJ that managed to play "What Hurts the Most"- Rascal Flatts and "Lips of an Angel"- Hinder.

My FH is convinced that it would be a good idea to play "Marry You" by Bruno Mars as the recessional from the ceremony.

Yes because I definitely want to hear this after we get married: "It's a beautiful night, we're looking for something dumb to do

Hey baby, I think I wanna marry you"

    And

"If we wake up and you wanna break up that's cool.

    No, I won't blame you;

    It was fun, girl."

*eye roll* he still doesn't understand

    @LindseyK17

Our joke is that we should dance to Bettter Dig Two by The Band Perry.

So if the ties that bind ever do come loose

Tie 'em in a knot like a hangman's noose

Cause I'll go to heaven or I'll go to hell

Before I'll see you with someone else

    Romantic!

@Mariah - my FH's friend was with us when FH proposed and he started playing Marry You right before he started taking the pictures, which was a cute touch but definitely not a good song for when you're actually getting married. Smiley laugh

@Delfina - I wish FH liked country, I would 100% add that to our list! He wouldn't get it if I told him that was another good option, though.

@ Lindsey yes! Like I get what he's saying, and it's kinda funny, but I don't want to be playing that after we just had the ceremony. He brings it up again every time we talk about it though lol

I went to a wedding where the very first song played at the reception was "I Don't Fuck with You." Uncensored. And the only people on the dance floor at the time were children.
