How’s everyone feeling about the news !! 25% indoor capacity and no limit to outdoor weddings. Social distancing still required but hey I’ll take it ! Hoping to at least hit 50% by August!

I was honestly shocked by the news! I just hope things don’t get worse again and we have to shut down for a second time. If we do, then it’s unlikely my September wedding will happen...if we don’t, then there is a good chance!

I agree with Olivia! Hopefully things will remain relatively calm, and we can go forward with our August wedding. The date means a lot to us, and it would be nice to be married.

    Hi Lainey,

Wow! That's quite the update from Texas. I'm glad you're feeling optimistic about it!

I live in Minneapolis, and it's almost impossible to keep up with all the different restrictions and various reopening plans in different states.

If you're interested, check out these discussions with other August couples:

Keep in mind that their states may not be relaxing the stay-at-home orders and/or social distancing requirements. I'm wishing you the best of luck for your August wedding! Smiley heart

I'm cautiously optimistic! I live in Houston. My wedding is Nov 14 and my venue holds 400. We planned on having a 200 person wedding and we could easily scale that down to 150 ... I'm hoping by November venues can at least be 50% capacity! At this point I've come to terms with the point that I'm not going to have my fairytale dream wedding. I don't want to postpone because my FH and I are ready to start a family. I figure I can still have a "dreamish" wedding with social distancing, masks, etc. Crossing fingers!

Our original wedding date was May 16th and our new date is on August 1st, so we're cautiously optimistic as well... It's been a whirlwind for sure of what to think vs. what not to think, how much into planning/finalizing can I get myself into (planning is 75% done) while being ready at any point for any news that might affect our new day. I've been told from vendors August is a month they're not worried about. I've literally had one vendor share, "You're in my warm and fuzzy category, hon!" Still, I keep my guard up after having to postponed.

I've gotten some guests asking me what the day would look like as well, so I thought I'd share a Q&A my fiance and I put on our website to give guests a feel for what attending a wedding this summer may look like. Feel free to use this Q&A if you want or change it up however:

What will the wedding be like? Well, come and find out! We want to see you there to celebrate our big day with us! Be rest assured we are taking every precaution to make this day happen while doing everything we can to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Should I self-screen before coming to the wedding? For yourself, for others, and for us. We invited you because we want you there to help us celebrate this new chapter in our lives, but we care more about your health and making sure you're safe too. Please self-screen!

Will I have to practice social distancing? Yes. According to Texas Department of State Health Services, "Individuals should, to the extent possible, minimize in-person contact with others not in the individual’s household. Minimizing in-person contact includes maintaining 6 feet of separation from individuals. When maintaining 6 feet of separation is not feasible, other methods should be utilized to slow the spread of COVID-19, such as wearing a face covering or mask, washing or sanitizing hand frequently, and avoiding sharing utensils or other common objects."

In other words, keep your personal bubble from popping, do a cute wave/greeting when seeing familiar faces if you can, wear a face mask if you are worried about being too close to others at the wedding or divert away from them in some clever way, wash your hands a lot/hand sanitize, and don't share your drink or your food with others. We will place readily visible signage at the venue to remind everyone of best hygiene/social practices.

What's this hand washing game all about and the situation with hand sanitizer? We encourage washing or disinfecting hands upon entering the wedding venue and after any interactions with employees, people, or items in the venue. Hand sanitizer will be provided in every room throughout the venue to keep your mind calm about this. Additionally, you can find your own personalized bottle at your table during the reception.

What can I expect with wearing face masks? Please bring your own if you choose to wear one. We will provide a limited supply only.

How can I be proactive and socially responsible at the wedding? Carry hand sanitizer if you can, and use it regularly, while at the wedding, especially after contact with individuals outside the household.

What's the situation with the shuttle service from and to the hotel? We will have it! The shuttle company will ask that you sit in every other row and sit together if you are in the same household or are attending the wedding together. Shuttle schedule times remain the same- 4:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., and 10:30 p.m.

What will the ceremony be like? We envision our ceremony to be meaningful yet brief (~25 minutes) to ensure our guests are comfortable. We ask that families sit together but remain six feet apart from other parties in the same row. Wedding guests who are not members of the same household but who are attending together can sit next to each other, but keep six feet of distance empty on either side. Additionally, we ask that every other row be left empty to ensure distance. The ceremony site is large enough in the back where people have the freedom to stand as close to or as far from others as they are comfortable as well should they choose to.

What will cocktail hour be like? Keep your social distance game on while mingling. There is a slide-through window to the bar from the outside patio as well as access to the bar from the inside of the reception hall. Safely distance if you find yourself in a line waiting for a drink. The goal here is to ensure as few hands as possible involved during cocktail hour while still providing you with refreshments and small bites before dinner.

What will dinner be like? To follow guidelines, we will have no more than six people per table. Tables will be spaced out more from each other throughout the room. We ask that wedding guests wait patiently until their table number is called for their plated meal through our buffet line. Our catering company will serve the food directly to each wedding guest through the line. Keeping safety in mind, members of the catering company will wear gloves and face masks during serving. Dessert will be sliced and served to each guest as well.

What's dancing going to look like? Well to be on the safe side, we're not going to be doing any conga lines... There will be more allocated room on the dance floor so guests can safely show off their awesome dance moves. We look forward on seeing you there!
