Thank You Card Etiquette

We were married on March 11 and I just finally dropped my thank you cards in the mail today. I have anxiety about it because I feel awful that it's taken so long to get these sent. Anytime I see someone who came to our wedding I feel bad about the fact that they haven't been properly thanked yet!...

Or did you ever receive a thank you card this long after a wedding and thought less of the person?

Agree with the better late than never statement . FH And I attended 4 weddings last year and only received a thank you card from one person. Another asked for our address 9 months later to send one but still hasn't. (it will be a year since the wedding this month)

Amy, trust me-- in a way, these people will be twice as thrilled to get your thank yous, cause you *obviously* cared enough to send them. You remembered, all this time, and got it done. And I promise, they're not thinking about the un-thanked-gift when they see you. Neither of my younger brothers sent out thank you notes but when I see them, I'm just happy to see them-- I'm not checking to see if their right hand is broken, making it impossible to write. Amy, I honestly never think twice about the timing of a thank you note (life is too short to sweat that kind of thing!) so from my perspective, I think you're fine! On another note, I am getting married on March 11th next year in Philadelphia so we share a wedding date and location! No snowstorms this past March but did you worry about weather?

It's better to send them late than to not send them at all! I would still appreciate it.

@Karen, that's so sad Smiley sad I'm so sorry to hear that.

EMF...that's so funny!! Where is your wedding? Honestly, when we picked the date, I was a little bit stressed about it because I wasn't shooting for March, but we ran into date conflicts with the venue we liked and photographer, so we just chose it. But once I did my research in the Farmers Almanac (I know, I'm crazy) I was totally fine with it. I eventually got to the point where I really didn't care what happened with the weather, as long as my friends and family could get there, and the likelihood of a blizzard that traps everyone indoors on March 11 is pretty slim. We ended up lucking out with a 72 degree day! It was perfect! Hopefully you'll get just as lucky Smiley smile

Thanks again all! You (or, most of you) made me feel much better. I mean, if these people are important enough to us to be at our wedding, then they know us well enough to know that we're not purposely not sending cards.

We're currently working on ours. I say as long as you're getting them out, you're good. I have a good friend that I bought a gift for her wedding, but didn't go to the wedding. Never received a thank you from her and really wish I had.

We wrote and sent them as gifts came in the mail. Just finished about 50 more and dropped them in the mail 10 days after the wedding. It wasn't fun, but it's something you just have to sit down and do.
