Thank you cards and my not so lovely handwriting

Laura, on March 8, 2017 at 1:28 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 21

So I'm writing my thank you cards from my bridal shower and I'm so self conscious of my handwriting! I showed my sister one of my thank you cards just to see if it was okay and she replies with saying my handwriting is cute and it looks like a little kid wrote it... I'm considering typing these out at this point. My shower was just this past Sunday.

I would type them I think that it will save you a lot of time as well as make you feel better about the appearance of them.

    Don't be.

I will take chicken scratch for a thank you note Smiley smile

Put more thought on the timeliness and content would be my suggestion.

In my opinion, handwritten is more personal and shows more effort than typing does. With a typed card you could just copy and paste similar messages, and it won't be as personal. I don't think anyone will care about your handwriting, they will just be happy that you took the time to handwrite them a thank-you card.

Date twin! I think the handwritten note is more personal and would be appreciated by your guests. If I received something typed it would feel more generic and not as special.

Definitely do handwritten! It's the message that is important, not how good or bad your handwriting is.

Please don't type them. I understand the temptation to do this, as I also hate my handwriting, but as a guest I would think you just copy-and-pasted the same message for each card and tweaked them a bit. I think BeachBride said it best--as long as your guests know you took the time to thank them and send them a note, they won't care about the handwriting.

Handwritten is much more personal. My sister always makes fun of my handwriting, but I wrote mine anyways

Thank you everyone! I've literally ripped five up already, but I will stick with the handwritten thank you's.

I would rather receive a handwritten letter/card than a typed one. It's just more personal and the effort is definitely there.

Good. I love a handwritten thank you note. It's a rare treat to see these days.

Do not type! I would rather have handwritten any day. I don't even like thank you photos without taking the time to hand write them out

My shower was sunday as well. I started writing out my thank yous last night..made it through 8 before I saw my handwriting getting sloppy and took a break. I will do some more tonight.

Maybe take a few each night and try to take your time.

Definitely handwrite, but it's okay if you make mistakes! We actually got a thank you card this week where the bride wrote so that it was upside down on the inside. She added a note on the side where she should've written that said "at least we're family now!" I loved it and thought it was cute! It's all about the thought that went into what she wrote and I'm sure your guests would feel the same!

I think handwritten is more personal even if you were to say something generic but I appreciate the time taken by the writer.

I'm writing out my thank you cards today too.

I would side-eye a typed note. I'd prefer chicken scratch over typed.

Its not even chicken scratch though. I don't know how to describe it...I mix cursive with upper-case lettering. Thank you for the support WW!!!

I second what @Nonna said. I have the worst handwriting ever, but when I really sit down and focus on it, it turns out pretty decent. I very rarely judge somebody's handwriting in a card because I'm usually focused on the nice message on the inside

My handwriting is terrible. Thank you cards are really far away for me, but the last time I had to do them for something else, I had a system that worked. I wrote the generic, less personal ones first, with my best handwriting. Then as my handwriting got worse, which it always does, I would do the longer ones with more personal, long messages (parents, best friend).
