Thank You Cards From Registry Purchases

Cassi, on July 16, 2019 at 3:29 PM Posted in Registry 0 15

Curious.. When is the appropriate time to send thank you cards? Is it as each gifts come in? All together like right before or right after the wedding? I'm new to all of this. We have received our first gift (still 3 months out from wedding) from a coworker of mine and I have expressed thanks in person and he even gave the okay to open it early. He got us a really expensive baking set so I told him I would make him some cookies as his thank you. I woke up this morning and a few people ordered stuff on prime day (6 gifts are coming to be exact) and I don't know when I should send thank yous. Or if I should even open these gifts yet or wait till it gets closer. I'm so terrible when it comes to etiquette haha

As soon as they come in, I would open them and send a thank you.

We sent them as they came in. If they came within a month of the wedding, we are sending all those after.

Don’t send a thank you before you physically receive a gift — part of the thank you let’s them know it arrived, so if you thank them and then it never does, it gets awkward to sort out. Cards as they arrive is the best move, and makes it easier to keep on top of.

I am choosing to wait to open any gifts until after my bridal shower. My one friend had our gifts shipped directly to our house but I don't want to ruin the surprise. I did acknowledge that we received the gifts and I would be opening them at my bridal shower on August 10th. She was ok with that and I will send thank you afterwards

I would open gifts and send thank you's as soon as you receive something! As a guest - I always like to know that you actually got what I sent you and would think it was odd to wait 3 months to get a thank you card Smiley smile

Are you having a shower sometime soon? Maybe they are for that, besides the one from your male coworker. I have seen friends have the packages ship to their parents house to be opened at the shower as a surprise like everything else. I would just write him a thank you right away.

Send thank you’s as you receive gifts. It’s polite and lets the giver know that you received the gift and also saves you from having to do 93749 at a time.

I have been sending them within a few days of actually receiving the gift, which has been very well received by our guests. Many have made comments to my mom about how nice it was that we are getting them out quickly. Send them ASAP, it doesn’t go unnoticed.

Well i know not to do it before lol that ones a given haha I was just prepping so I know how to handle as they come in because like I said I have received notifications of multiple items being purchased already... probably because we are registered on amazon and prime day offered a lot of our registry items.

Thats cool. At least its not too far out. We are registered on amazon and since yesterday and today are prime day I think people took advantage of it.. I wasn't expecting gifts this early (still 88 days out, and bridal shower is still like 45 days out).

We received a few like 2x weeks ago, so I ordered Thank You cards on amazon (didn’t have them yet) and sent them 2 days (thank you prime) later.
