Thank You Notes!

Lisa, on November 23, 2022 at 11:42 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10
In the spirit of Thanksgiving this week and being thankful, I figured I'd start a discussion about wedding thank you notes!

Will your thank you cards match your invitations and/or Save The Dates? Are you including a wedding photo or two on them? Do you envision an elaborate design? Or keeping it simple?

Share an inspiration photo of what your thank you cards will look like!

When it came time for me to order thank you notes, I wanted to keep it simple (and cheap). Everyone just throws those away... so why waste the money? I stuck with my color theme and found some nice ones on Amazon. Would do that all over again.

I'm probably going to use blank cards that say "thank you" on the front. I'm making my save the dates and invitations, and don't feel like doing even more work because I'm already DIYing so much. I don't think anyone will care/notice. I am using the same envelopes, though.

We did basic cards that said Thank You on the front, and were blank inside, from Target. Like PPs said, we didn't see spending a great deal of money that would be thrown away almost immediately.

Our thank you cards matched our save the date, and invitation! We included a wedding photo from our sneak peak our photographer sent so we could order them right away. The cards were blank inside and I made sure to call out a particular memory shared with each guest in addition to thanking them for their attendance, time, and generosity!

Our older guests really appreciated having a photo to enjoy on the thank you card and almost all of our guests called us after to say it was the most thoughtful thank you they’d ever received after a wedding. It’s the last communication regarding your wedding your guests will receive so it was important to us to end on a high note and really show our appreciation.

My husband and I had a similar thought! We could have purchased ones that matched our invites, and they were a beautiful design... But, generic ones at a local store were so much cheaper and still looked nice, so we decided to save the money and just go with the cheaper ones.

Awesome that you are DIYing your invitations and Save The Dates!! I could totally understand not wanting to also DIY the thank you cards. I agree, I don't think anyone will care (if they even notice) that your thank you cards don't match the invitations. My husband and I picked out generic Thank You cards that just had "thank you" written in a pretty font on the front, and it worked out well. Since they aren't wedding themed, we could use the leftover cards later on for whenever we need thank you cards.

We did something similar! I think it's a good way to save money while still sending your appreciation to your guests.

That's awesome!! I love that you were able to quickly share a photo from your wedding with everyone, and what a sweet idea to write a personalized memory to each guest! I'm sure everyone appreciated reading about what memory with them in it stood out to you the most from the wedding day. Very thoughtful!

We really wanted to include a photo on our cards since there were a lot of people who sent us a gift that couldn't make it to the wedding, but the thank you notes that matched our save the dates/ invites didn't really have space for a picture. The extra cost for postage, printing out pictures to put in the cards, etc. didn't make sense, so we just got different style.

I totally don't blame you for not wanting to spend the extra cost - bummer that the design that matched your invitations didn't have a space for a photo! Adding a photo on the card is a great way to share the day with those who weren't able to attend!
