What's some of the worst/weirdest suggestions you've been given regarding wedding planning?

- Mine would be FH thinking his groomsmen didn't need gifts (luckily I talked him into giving them something!)

- FH didn't want to feed anyone at our rehearsal dinner and said, instead of providing drinks, they could use the water fountain (I told him we had to provide a meal and drinks)

- My mom suggesting a potluck (food safety issues there so I shut that down really fast!)

“You should have picked a different venue- yours is far away and the hotel is too expensive.” Ok, well, I live at the beach and I’m a boujee B, you can decline the invitation.

“You have to include my daughter as a flower girl or we aren’t coming because we’re tired of going to family events without our whole family.” (Best Man’s wife, not our relatives). Ok, if you want your 5 year old to attend a $xxxxx party, throw one. And also, I’m tired of going to children’s birthday parties without my drinking buddies, so I’m bringing them to your next one.

It does make sense. Sometimes our happiest moments bring out the worst in people. Hope that whoever got “promoted” is giving you the love and support you deserve, and that the rest of the planning is perfect and stress-free for you!

My father suggested having a bonfire at my elegant outdoor wedding. I’m not really into smelling like a house fire at my wedding, so I declined.

Oh boy! Your mom definitely means well but that would frustrate me too. You're totally right that it's your money, your choice!

My FMIL suggested to my FH that his uncle (her brother, who they don’t talk to, have had bad blood for many years) be his BEST MAN! Uh, no.

My in laws insisting we have it in their backyard so they could use it as an excuse to remodel quickly shut that down ( we have over 100 guests)

my mother in law suggesting a venue a few minutes from them and the venue had dumpsters in the back super noticeable that way they can have their local favorite Chinese food restaurant catered ( quickly shirt that down cause absolutely not

other than that nothing else we’ve been planning our wedding how we want Smiley smile

Love her to death but that woman WILL be the death of me!! 😭 She eloped in Vegas and has zero idea what things cost or how a wedding works. She thought picking up the license meant we’re already married and our wedding is just a party. NOOOoooo...

My fiancee and I are not club music dancing people - every event we have been to with a DJ and loud music we have left or at least left the room after an hour/hour and a half; we also hate raunchy music/lyrics. My sister is insisting that our chosen time frame is too short and keeps trying to get the raunchy music she likes added to the playlist we are carefully curating and says she will be spending the whole reception on the dance floor. Well no you wont unless you like dancing to Mozart - because the first 2.5 hours of our playlist is mellow eating and conversing music because 90% of our budget has gone to food (we are major foodies!) and we plan on sitting and enjoying our meal and our cake before any dance music is turned on. We will have a short significant dances break while the caterer flips from dinner to dessert to get the first dance, parent child dances, and anniversary dance done while the videographer is there - then we can leisurely eat our cake! We also are keeping the volume down on the dance music we are playing so people can still have conversations if they dont want to dance.

Fi says dry wedding...to save money. HA! He knows I’m a wino 😉

Our wedding is in May and we are keeping guest list 100 or less. Fi’s 15 yo niece says her junior prom is that night. She wants us to invite her current boyfriend (who has not yet had opportunity to ask her to prom cause it’s October!) to our wedding so they can come to our ceremony, eat and then leave for prom. Some of my close friends husbands aren’t even invited (voluntarily) to trim the guest list! I’m gonna invite your teenage crush???
