Thawing cookies

Jo, on September 7, 2019 at 6:58 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6
I made about 100 sugar cookies 2 weeks ago (undecorated) and froze them in zip lock bags seperated with parchment paper. My wedding is next week and I want to thaw them and put them into cellophane bags. I've read some sites say to totally remove them onto a plate and come to room temp, but other sites say leave them in the bag to come to room temp. Which is it? Anyone have experience? Thanks!

Aww thank you! These have a special meaning as the day before our wedding (Sept 13th) is Mid Autumn Festival (or Mooncake Day). I made these to celebrate and also to honor my Dad who I lost last year but he loved mooncakes ^^

Thaw them in the bag in the fridge. It's slower, but not as drastic a temperature change and can help minimize condensation.

I make about 1000 Christmas cookies a year. I freeze them. What I do (with all the cookies, including sugar cookies) I take them out the night before I need them (the night before our Christmas party) I leave them in the bags on the counter overnight. In the morning I start bagging them up and that's it. They don't take very long to thaw, maybe a couple hours.
