The 1st Time He Said "I Love You"

I actually said I love you first in a way...but he kind of did too. I spent basically an entire weekend attempting to tell him but kept getting too nervous about it thinking he would think I was crazy. So...that last night that I would be in town as I was leaving he walked me out to my car and said "I do too" then walked away. I chased after him and said "I love you"

I posted this a long time ago so im just gonna copy and paste lol.

I was leaving his house after watching a movie a month or 2 after we started dating & he said “I love you, good night.” I figured that he didn’t mean to say it, that it was one of those habits & I wasn’t sure I heard it right, he mumbled it of course. I gave him a hug & said “Yeah, you too, Goodnight.” About two weeks later we went to a bar and were about to leave, he said “I love you” & I was certain of what he had said. I looked at him & said.. “No you don’t.”.. I was thinking, It’s only been a month or 2 how can he say that? Another week went by & we were watching a movie when I turned to him & said “Did you mean it when you said you loved me?” He said “Of course I did.” I responded “How do you know?” He looked at me & said “To me love is wanting to spend all of your time with this one person & you miss them when they aren’t there, I can’t stop thinking about you & I miss you all the time.” He looked so sincere & ..

Couldn’t help but admit to myself that I missed him all the time too. So, 3 weeks after the first time he said “I love you,” I said, “I love you too.”

Mine is really kind of sad. We were camping for the weekend with his family and him and the boys went off on their ATVs and I was stuck with his mom and sisters. We had nothing to do. Just sat around for 5 hours while they were out. His mom slept. The kids stayed busy. I had nada. So, I broke out the alcohol a little early. =D Had a couple screwdrivers and some beer. By the time the boys got back, I was a little toasted.

Anyway, by the end of the night I totally crashed in the tent and he had to get everything set up around me. LOL We were laying there and I eventually blurted out I think I love you or something of that nature. Don't remember what he responded and the next day I felt a little awkward, but sometime soon after that, he was saying it back. =)

I, obviously, couldn't wait for him to say it first.

I think it was when I spent the night at his place. I would stay for a couple of days then go back to my parents place but then he said he loved me one morning.

The First time we said "I Love You" I was leaving for work and about to get in my car. I had been trying not to say it for what seemed like forever, and right before I got into my car it slipped out. The look on my face was priceless. I started to apologize for saying it and then he said it back. We were both waiting on the other to say it first.

I love hearing about all the sentimental stuff so many of you have kept! FH and I exchanged lots of emails during the early days of our relationship and I have printed several of them out so I would have them forever. I also have every card he has ever given me and little notes he left me. I love going through them every once in awhile and remembering the early days!

The first time FH said I love you was when he was in Iraq and I was at home here in NY. It was pretty scary though. We had been talking about how we felt for each other for a while without actually saying those three words. We were chatting on the phone about our living situation when he would be coming home and all of a sudden I heard this really loud noise and he said "Ashley, I love you with everything that I am, I have to go" and hung up. I freaked out!!! I didn't hear from him for 4 days. I was so stressed out because I immediately thought the worst. He finally called me and said something had happened and he couldn't talk about it. I told him I loved him and I dropped it. When he finally came home in February he explained that his base had gotten hit with mortars and they fell danger close to the offices where the phones were. I will never forget that day and the 4 days following.

We were talking, and I teasingly asked him, "So, you liked me since last Christmas?" He told me he "used to" like me. I got all bummed out, until he added with a smile, "But now I love you."

Ours is a little funny. We went camping with a few friends and that day we decided to go tubing. Little did we know that the river was so low around the first bend (and most of the way after that) that it barely covered our ankles. We pretty much carried our tubes or in my case my FH let me sit in the tube while he pulled it down the river. Well after 4 hours of that we get back to the campsite and we were exhausted. Our friends decided to leave but we were so tired (and FH was sun burnt) that we just went into the tent to lay down. He looked at me with the most amazing look and told me that no matter how bad the day was, that I make it better. That was when he told me "I love you"

I just cheesed sooo hard when I saw this!! ...

It was on a trip to Newport, R.I....while sitting at this great seafood restaurant that overlooks the bay and the docks...aaaahhhhhh....memories

We had been dating for a couple months. Had yet to do the deed. He was actually holding out making sure I was ready (like we were two school kids or something). It was over the phone (such a werid place to say it for me). My ex was over "visiting" the kids and I was getting so annoyed w/ him and was venting over the phone to FH. We both had been pausing, so not to say it. I know I had been wanting to tell him for at least a wk, he I later found out was waiting even longer. When we were hanging up I just keep saying I want to tell him so badly and he said "you know I love you" and I started to cry and said I feel the same way! Ive been dying to tell you.

It was later I realized I told him but never said I love you! LOL

We had been dating for 4 months and he was completely plastered at a hibachi Japanese restaurant. Anyways, we were talking with other couples there and laughing and having a good time, when he just kind of looked at me really seriously and said "Do you love me?" And I blushed and said yes, because I am head over heels in love with him. And he said "Good. Because I love you too." And then we made out at the table. Ahhh, to be young and 21 again. Haha! Now I'm 27, married, with almost 2 kids, and we are both nondrinkers. Our story is not sweet or sentimental, but I guess that's why its so special to me, because its just so "us".

My FH is such a brat. We first started dating in high school so one night a few months into the relationship we were talking on the phone and I had been dying to tell him for a week! I got so sick of waiting, but I was really shy! So I was trying to hint at it.. telling him how much I LIKE him, etc. Finally I just burst out and said "Damn it, I love you!" he just laughed and said "I love you too babe!" Turns out he knew what I was getting at the entire time, he wanted to say it too, he just wanted to torture me and make me say it first!

We had been dating 6 months when he dropped the "L" word. I did not feel the same way. I cared for him, but I didn't love him. So, I didn't say it back.

2.5 months later (dating 8.5 months) he said it again. I did not say it in return. At that time I knew I loved him but I wasn't sure the relationship would last (other issues going on) and I didn't want to complicate things or make a break up harder by expressing my feelings.

1.5 months later (dating 1 year) I told him I loved him.

We have now been married almost 5 years and tell each other multiple times a day that we love each other.

@Future Mrs C- so cute! I always tease DH about what a brat he was when we were in high school.

FH told me before we were even together! we had a very bumpy relationship in the beginning, and acknowledged that we liked each other but i was dating other people (i had just gotten out of my first real relationship and wanted to be a crazy 19 yo). I remember he came over because i had to tell him i had decided to exclusively date someone else. He was obviously upset and said he wanted me to be happy and that he would always love me. 4 months later i told him i loved him back and we have been together ever since!

I'll always remember the first time he told me. It was actually about 5 months or so after we started dating and I wanted to tell him for awhile, but didn't want to be the first to tell. And I know he was waiting to say it until he was sure (just got out of a not so great relationship and the one before then wasn't good either... His heart was broken twice), so I understood him wanting to wait.

One night i stopped by his apartment to pick up some clothes I left there and we were just laying on his bead cuddling and talking and then he looks at me and says I have to tell you something.. I said okay, and then he told me i love you! I was so excited and said it right back. He probably said it about 4 more times before I left his apt (about 15 mins later). It was cute though and has been history since!

When i met DH, I was actually at the end of a very brief engagement with my ex..and had no intentions of dating. After months of harassing me..I agreed to let DH take me out, and i knew I was in trouble. IHe made me weak in the knees..this was in June.So I told him very plainly that i did not want a boyfriend. his answer? 'just let me let you have fun, i just want to make you happy." so we were seeing each other until sept 12 when we were on standing on a subway and he said "Just admit you are my girlfriend. Kiss me by the next stop and tell me youre my girlfriend...otherwise we really do need to be just friends." SO, I did. (Sorry this is a long story) Now, like I said...I knew I was in trouble. I KNEW I loved this silly man, and was so nervous about saying it. I called up my best friend like hyperventilating about it. I was way to scared of being hurt. So, October 1 we were out celebrating a friends birthday...and we were dancing our pants off
