The average cost of floral arrangements?

Carmiel, on June 12, 2012 at 1:12 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 28

I am having a co-worker do my floral arrangements (silk flowers). She just gave me her quote today, and I think it's a bit much. She's charging $500, and I'm providing ALL of the supplies! So, that means she's charging $500 for labor. Is this average?

Thanks in advance for all of you responses!

How much are you having her do?

Total cost for all my flowers...centerpieces, bouts, bouquets, etc was less than $1000 (and that included the cost of the flowers).

I paid a little over that for real flowers. So I'm not sure what she plans on doing, but without knowing that it sounds high.

That does sound high seeing that you are providing the flowers for her.

She's only doing florals for the bridal party no decor for the reception. The quote did include 2 wreaths for the church which I don't want, but I can't imagine 2 wreaths (for which I purchased the supplies to make) jacking the price up to $500...

Sounds high considering you are buying the flowers. We are having all real flowers orchids, roses, lillies, and hydrangeas and our bill with florist buying an ddoing all work with set up is 2100.00. so yeah i think that is high

That completely depends on how many pieces she is making. If she is doing centerpieces too, $500 is reasonable. Break it down into an hourly rate- it will make you feel better.

I'm a florist and i don't charge that much for labor unless it's a larger wedding with 20+ tables and fresh flowers (a lot more stress when you have 2 days to do everything and hope it doesn't die on you)... so ya... for fake flowers, that's ridiculous.

I'm having a florist do my flowers and all together for 16 centerpieces, all the bouquets and other flowers that go along with weddings, plus the delivery fee since we are getting married out of town is costing 1500. He is also setting up the tables as well. I think $500 sounds high when you are providing everything for her.

She did not make it clear on how she came up with the total. I was only given a list of the items included. So, I will ask if this is an hourly or per item rate.

    Thanks for the feedback!

For faux flowers and no centerpieces/room decor, that's nuts.

That seems pretty high! There are several websites that do silks and do not come close to that pricing. I'm doing real and only spending about $300.00....gives me my bouquet, MOH (1) & BM (2) bouquets, FH, BM, GM (1), RB boutinerre's, Mom's corsages (4) and FG petals. Mine are through a florist in west Michigan.

Oh my!! That's steep! Especially if you are providing everything! I have done 2 weddings where i made the bouquets, courasges, bouts & centerpieces using artificial flowers to cut costs. the first one was around $240 and the second was $325. The last wedding I did, we used real flowers that I ordered from our local grocery store, grand total... $127.00! (didnt make centerpieces for that one though.) So there ARE cheaper options. Hopefully you don't feel obligated to use her.

Has she shown you pics or samples of her work to try and maybe justify the $500 in labor?? If her work is AMAZING then maybe consider it. But I would definitely shop around if i were you! Smiley smile

Wow, I'm shocked to see that real flowers aren't as expensive as I thought! This is making reconsider DIYing my florals. I really appreciate all the feedback from everyone.

    Also, the total included:

    4-bouquet

    1-halo

    1-toss bouquet n/c (thanks)

    7-9-bout

    2-wreaths (which I don't want)

Yeah, I thought the same thing that artificial were cheaper, until i used both! The flowers I did for $127 consisted of:

    bridal bouquet

    3 BM bouquets

    4 coursages

    7 boutineers

we used roses, carnations, baby's breath and some green stuff(?) for filler

I mean it depends on how long it wil take her to do.... if its going to take her 25 hours to do flowers than thats only 20 dollars an hour...

thats how i would look at it.

If you're thinking about real flowers, you could probably get them for that price, unless you're using only orchids. In any case, that's totally insane for fake.

That is super high - I am doing 1 bridal bouquet, 8 BMs, 8 bouts and parents/grandparents corsages for a friend and there is no way I would charge her that much! I figure the silk/real touch flowers will only come to about $120 and she is using orchids and calla lilies.
