The dress fits you or you fit the dress?

J. Snow, on December 14, 2016 at 12:56 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 19

Since my surgery, I have lost 14 lbs. I'm actually glad that I have. I hope to keep tone it and keep the weight down. Any bridal lifestyle changes that you all are doing to fit your dresses? I was a size 16 with boobs and butt but I feel like I will be about 12/14.

When my exH told me that he had always thought I was a fatty and he had only married me because he thought I would lose weight and become a shape he was attracted to, I promised myself I would not try to lose weight for any reason other than my own desire for health and fitness. I'll be ordering my dress to fit whatever size I happen to be at that time.

This is always a hard one...part of me says to be realistic and plan on not losing weight, but if there is an actual reason you can foresee losing more weight than you have, like medical conditions or surgery, then roll with that. Talk to your doc and see if more weight loss is normal or expected, or if most folks lose initially and then gain it back, and if so, how much?

You can always have a dress taken in up to 3 sizes. Keep that in mind. Good luck

I bought my dress to fit me at the time it was bought. I'm purposely losing weight for purposes unrelated to the wedding. It will have to be taken in closer to the wedding.

I wouldn't buy a dress that was too small when I bought it.

I bought my dress - and took it home with me that day- because it fit.

So I aimed after my bulk for a certain size- because I knew that's what size I was when I bought it.

so- yes but not really? I plan bulk/cut cycles- so I just planned to end my cycle of cutting at a certain weight because that's what it was when it fit me before.

And it did- no alterations needed. (well- hemmed- not taken in)

Nah. I'll fit the dress. FH knows what I look like and I'm comfortable with myself. My dress just needs a bra sewn in and some tulle off the bottom to fit perfectly.

Oh Orchids, my jaw is on the floor. I am wanting to punch your ex in the nose. What a horrible horrible thing to say. I love the promise you made to yourself.

I think you should get the dress that fits you now, then if you lose weight you can get it taken in, but you won't be stressing about having to lose weight to fit into your dress (which would make me gain weight). I bought my dress to fit me and I am trying to lose inches (I never weigh myself because I hate the scale). I will take my dress in to be fit to me in February for my wedding mid-March. (btw that is when my seamstress told me to come back).

Get a dress that fits you! There are SO MANY stories of brides ordering too small as "motivation" to lose weight, and by the time alterations come around they can't fit into their dress and it can't be let out!

I was right between a 12 and 14, of course I plan on shaping up (not for the wedding, but for personal health), but just in case I don't, i know my dress will fit

No, I ordered a bigger size dress with the hope that I will lose weight before the wedding and obviously schedule an alteration to fit me.

I got a dress that fit me. I still worked out to tone up but, I didn't put any goals in mind to try and fit into anything.

I got my dress to fit me, I am going to try to lose some weight/tone up but that is just for me. I also don't plan on going down more than 1 dress size (probably even less)

I got a dress that fit me. I was literally a 12 everywhere except boobs, so I had to get a size 14 lol. It's better to have it taken in than for it to be too small and have no possibility to let it out!

I ordered my dress smaller but the woman at the store talked me out of it. I asked if there was a limit to how much the dress could be taken in and they said no. They have taken the dress from a 20 to a 2. I'm hoping to lose 20 pounds. I don't like the size I'm at plus it would be nice to feel good in a swim suit on the honeymoon.

I got a dress that fit me last year at the time. Then I went off hormonal BC for health reasons and my weight rebounded up 6 lbs. Now I am busting my butt to try and get it under control and it is really tough. So I will likely end up fitting the dress.

Order the dress to fit you! It's much easier to take it in then to let it out!

Get a dress that fits you now, then lose a reasonable amount of weight and have it taken in. Good luck! I am doing the same thing. They said they could alter it down 3 sizes and one size generally equals 10 pounds. My goal to lose before the wedding is 15 pounds Smiley smile
