The drive from ceremony to reception

My fiance and I have recently lost our reception site and we have found other places but they are a little bit of a drive. So I am here to ask how far is too far away to make family and friends drive from the ceremony to the reception site? I really don't want it to be too far but its looking like...

My fiance and I have recently lost our reception site and we have found other places but they are a little bit of a drive. So I am here to ask how far is too far away to make family and friends drive from the ceremony to the reception site? I really don't want it to be too far but its looking like the other places we have found are anywhere from 20-45 minutes away from our ceremony and I don't want to make guests who have already driven far to get to the wedding to drive even farther just to get to the reception. Who has been to a wedding that has thought they had to drive way too far and how long was your drive? Or brides who have already had their wedding and was it was a little far from the ceremony to reception? Any thoughts?

    Thank you ladies! Everyone has been very helpful. We are currently dealing with a situation with our venue and long story short they will be closing and now have to find a new venue for our reception. It really stinks but we are hurrying to try and find another that will fit our standards and budget! But thank you so much for the great tips. We believe we may have found one and it would be 20 minutes away. A little closer than we thought we may have to go!

    Ours is a 40 minute drive. Once there though it is centrally located to where everyone lives, so the real drive for them is to our ceremony. After the ceremony I am passing out chip and soda/water as they leave the church to snack on during the drive.

    If folks are traveling in and staying at hotels I would get the reception as close to hotels as possible. Folks will be better with traveling to and from ceremony than all day to get everywhere.

    Shuttles are great options depending on your budget and size of wedding
