The Feeling when you find your dress

Nicole, on December 17, 2021 at 3:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 15
Hey brides!
For those of you out there who found your dresses, how did you know it was “the one”?
Reason I asked is because I tried on dresses today for the first time and I think the first dress I tried on is the dress. I got this fluttery feeling in my chest and heart. When I left the boutique I kept thinking about that dress. I even said “I miss that dress already”. I still am thinking about it but want to try on more dresses.

The first dress I tried on was THE one. I tried on other dresses. While they were BEAUTIFUL, they just weren't ME.
How I knew was because I definitely saw myself walking down the aisle in it. I saw the vision and I even teared up a bit. I also loved the shape of it, the detailing, the types of fabrics they used, etc.

But at least you liked that dress so you can keep an eye on it if you want to go back and buy it.

If you want to keep looking and trying on more dresses you can do that too!

Once I put it on, I didn't want to take it off. Ever.

    Yes! All of this!
The fact that you keep thinking about it is a good sign too. Keep trying on more dresses so you're 100% sure. That's what I did. It was the first dress I had tried on. I went to another salon and tried on about 10 or 12 more dresses. None of them compared to my dress. even though I couldn't find a thing wrong with some of them they just weren't it.

I knew that the 3rd dress I tried on was The One because I felt like a princess in it and could see myself walking down the aisle at my wedding. I had to have the dress. I also knew it was the one because of the reactions of those I brought with me. We all cried happy tears and when trying on other dresses after, I kept coming back to that one.

For me it was the very 1st dress that I tried on. My heart literally skipped a beat & I just knew that this was it. And like you I tried on several dresses after that but that one dress had my heart & I went back a week later & got it.

I actually didn’t want to try on the dress because it wasn’t the mermaid I was going for.

When she zipped it, it felt like it was made for me and fit like a glove. I knew I was buying it before I even walked out of the room and saw it in the mirror.

Aww these answers are super sweet!

I knew it was my dress because my body reacted to it before I did. It was the first dress I tried on and I did have concerns about some features but I saw them shake out the train and started to well up.I had always assumed the thoughts (I can imagine walking down the aisle in this, I can imagine when my fiancé sees me for the first time, blah blah) would come first and then I’d get teary-eyed, but the emotion came first, with the rational thoughts coming second. It was definitely a very unexpected and visceral reaction.I told myself it wasn’t that at first and tried on a bunch more dresses to be sure but i heard my mum and sister whispering they knew it was the one and I knew it too, really - I just had to try the other things to be sure!

Oh I will! I went by myself so I could form my own opinion on what I like. I have two appointments scheduled in the new year but for right now, that dress is #1!

None. Mine was pretty emotionless. I picked one that fit right, looked good in, and accentuated the muscles I’ve been working hard to build. But, I also hate shopping in general so as soon as I found one that met all those criteria and in a price point I was willing to pay for, then I just grabbed it.

Honestly I only tried on dresses one day and found mine. For me I didn’t have that “moment” but I did put it on a few times throughout and really liked it and felt I didn’t need to go to any more shops. I am a TERRIBLE decision maker and waffle on things horribly. For me to even feel 90% sure on getting a dress first appointment made me know it was the right choice because I never make decisions first time. Like EVER

It wasn't an immediate reaction for me. Once I was able to see all the details that I loved about the dress, I really started to love it. I took it off to try on more in the same style and I just kept thinking about that dress. I knew if I left the store without buying it, I would be thinking about it non stop so I tried it back on and knew it was the one! Afterwards, I couldn't stop looking at pictures of me in it for like two weeks straight lol.

Nothing wrong with trying on more dresses! It's fun and you're never going to be able to do it again. But it does sound like that first dress might be the one! Good luck!

I had a similar reaction when I knew my dress was THE dress. The idea of taking it off and seeing it go back on the rack made me genuinely sad. With the others, it was like, "Okay, that was fun." I knew I wasn't walking out of the store without knowing that dress was mine.

I didn't cry or feel excited. I just felt "good" in it. It was the only dress that I wanted to put back on after all the other options. While I was trying the others on I kept looking at that one.

Initially, I was intrigued, but wasn't sure. I went dress shopping by myself to multiple places, but my mind kept going back to the one.

I ordered a couple of artificial flower bouquets on Etsy, and then went back to the store. I was even more in love and couldn't stop smiling.
