Is anyone here who went through such experience? i had yesterday morning laparoscopy with general anesthesia. so i was sleeping till today morning but when i woke up i kinda threw out and my heart was beating quite fast. they told me they did a blood check and i have low magnesium. tomorrow i'm going home. but what about going to the toilet? i had some food today and i feel pain in the bowel, is it normal for everyone? i asked the doctors and told me it shouldn't hurt me, i mean not the bowel.

Any time with a lap surgery this is an issue. they put air into the cavitiy and it can cause chest pain tachycardia- as much as it can hurt the best thing to do is get up an moving but make sure you tell your nurse just to be sure

I had laproscopic surgery in 2006. The best thing, for me, was water, eating prunes (which had forgotten that I really like), walking (it helps get your system back to normal) and time.

Glad that you are home and feeling a bit better.

The throat pain is from the intubation.

Hey Keriayn, i was intubated, cause i had even a tape to prevent falling of the tube, i did have tachycardia indeed that's why i stayed there more than other girls did. I start loosing the feeling of fullness in my belly, got some natural stuff to help the bowel work and it does makes annoying sounds lol. It is a though experience because my pains weren't diagnosed, but i am still waiting for the results of that liquid in the Douglas space. My chronic pains came back once i started to eat again which makes me think they'll gonna give me the diagnose of an irritating bowel, but they had to make sure it's that as there's not a special way to diagnose. Could you tell me please in how many days your pains stopped? i mean the muscles around the little holes and how much you waited for the threads to be taken out? Thank you all

Walk around a lot. Take your time and be safe, but it really does help people recover post-op. Usually they don't take out the threads; your body absorbs them. If necessary, they will cut the belly button string, but that's all. Everyone heals on her own timeline, but it may take up to 6 weeks for you to feel completely back to normal :-/

They inflate your abdomen with gas to do the laparascopy. That tends to shut down bowel function temporarily, and you may have gas and/or constipation as it starts back up again. Abdominal tightening exercises can help, along with the other things suggested.

As far as stitches, my dissolved, no need to go in to have them removed. Just had to take of the steri-strips, which normally fall off in a week, mine hung in there for a month. LOL!

Pain around the incisions should stop shortly after surgery. You may, at some point, feel a "burning" sensation around one (or all) incisions. This is usually caused by the nerves growing back together. If it bothers you, see your Dr. He/she can give you a shot that will numb the area for 30 days, usually enough time for the nerves to connect.
