"The Kissing Game"

I love Tommy, on April 7, 2009 at 3:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

O.K. you all know the kissing game at the reception! The guests click the glasses and the bride and groom kiss!!!! Well does any one have a different way of doing this other than clicking glasses?

Buying those New Year's "clackers" which they sell some for weddings. That or those tiny bell place card holders.

You can put a clip of your favorite song, so your guest would have to ask the band or the DJ for it and that way you know they want you to kiss. hope this helps you as much as it helped me!!!!!!!!!

You could have guests come up to the mic and sing a song, a poem or a quote, even advice on marriage, Their reward for bravery..a kiss from the newly weds!!

I think it's ALL annoying and I really hope it's not done at all, or at least at a minimum, at my wedding

Not gonna be necessary at my wedding, we can't keep our lips apart now, I can only imagine how it's gonna be when we're man and wife. Smiley smile

I was thinking of collecting different types of bells:

    *cow bell

    *dinner bell

    *bicycle bell

    *mini gong

and place one at each table with a little poem.

Rock on Joey's Baby! That's what I'm talking about! I think our guests will have to bang on something just to get us to STOP kissing, hahaha

Soon2bMrsD: I absolutely LOVE that idea! Especially the mini gong! LOL I can't stand the clinking glasses thing, so this may be a way to keep my irritation with that to a minimum. It's not the kissing that's the problem (trust me!), it's the annoying ass sound! This solves my problem! Thanks!

My cousin, rather than doing the traditional "dollar dance," had the DJ place a box on the head table and people had to come put a dollar in if they wanted the couple to kiss. I loved the idea and thought it was way more fun than the dollar dance, which is always a little awkard and not well coordinated. It also prevents people from clinking their glasses every 30 seconds and making you interrupt what you're doing.

If you don't want to kiss when people clink glasses, just ignore it when it happens -- they'll stop trying.

I went to a wedding recently where the DJ was supplied with couples names in a hat.

He would periodically announce a couple and THEY would have to kiss however they wanted (preferrably dramatically)... then the Bride and Groom would have to immitate their kiss... was cute!!

You have your choice of poems such as:

As we gather together, to share our wedded bliss, Ring the bell for us to kiss.

The bells toll for the lovers kiss and hail the beginning of wedded bliss.

    I'm a little jingle bell

I'm here to wish the couple well!

Shake me, ring me loud and clear

    When you see _____ & ____ appear.

My tinkling sound is here to convey

Your love and good wishes on their special day!

Bring me along to the reception too

So they may share a kiss for you!

In the shadow stood a beauty,

By her side stood a man,

Once in love they stepped closer,

    And there a future began,

Today they will start a life,

This story is one they will always tell,

For today the lovers are kissing,

    Kissing under the bells.

Aaaand for those smooch hounds that dont need an excuse to make-out:

It has nothing to do with "wedded bliss"

were so in love we just love to kiss....

(Ring the bell...or not...were still going to kiss!)

I forgot to add: If you start soon after your engagement you can take your time to find the different bells. Garage Sales, the Good Will/ thrift store, ODD/Big Lots, Walmart/Sams Club(bike dpt.) all are great places to pick up a weird looking bell...trust me on this...lol

    also add:

    *Jingle/Sleigh bells

    *Squeezable bike horn

    * musical Triangle (think old wester chow-time "come and get it!!!" --triangle)

If you and your FH like to travel you can collect souvenir bells from cities and states you go to and put one at each table so it's like a "theme" bell for the places you've been together.

When our company provides DJ service, we let the bride and groom kiss once and then we give them a microphone and let them pick a couple to kiss INSTEAD when the glasses are clinking the next time. We call this, "The Kiss is Right". It's fun to choose parents, grandparents, etc., and it makes for nice photos.

I went to a wedding once where the groom was a firefighter. To get them to kiss, we had to go up in front by the DJ and sing a song with the word "fire" or "hot" in it. That was cute. I have also seen where a couple goes up in front of the head table and kisses in front of everyone, then the bride and groom have to do it the same way they did! That was fun...but can get a little naughty! Smiley winking
