The Last one to get married

Krista, on February 23, 2012 at 2:52 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

I was thinking about how all my bridesmaids are married. All 7 of them. I have 3 other close friends that are also married. It looks like i am the last of my friends to get married. Strange thing is i am one of the oldest of most my friends as well. Luckily a lot of my FH friends are not married yet so i guess i am not too far behind. Anyone else the last of their friends to get married?

I'm not the last of my friends to get married, I'm actually the first so I am on the flip side of your scenario. I'm a little weary as to how its going to work out down the road but I figure we're practically married now so nothing should be changed too much.

I'm the same as Honey B, I am the first of my friends to get married. I sometimes worry if our friendships will change, because I will be married. I guess we'll find out soon, almost 3 months to go!

LOL....what is funny is i was actually the first of all my friends to get engaged. But that was 12 years ago and with another guy. Looks like from that first bad experience i have just decided to take my time.

Krista, if you don't mind me asking - what's the average age range in your group?

I'm also the first (of my close girlfriends) to get married, but all of us are upper 20s/lower 30s, so we're kind of used to the idea that we're going to start settling down. So I'm not too afraid for my relationships with them after I become a married woman. Also the fact that FH and I share a large portion of our friend-groups makes it easier to keep the same social habits before or after marriage.

We're pretty much the last. The only couple in our circle of friends that isn't married is a pair that still live the crazy going out life and don't seem likely to settle down anytime soon!

I''m a late bloomer to Marriage in general so yes, I am the last to get married. This will be my first time at the age of 40. Never wanted to be Married before until now. So glad I waited.

Most of mine and FH's friends are married. And I do feel like since I met FH, we have been hanging out with other couples and I don't hang out with some of my single friends as often. I said I would never be like that, but I much prefer staying home with FH versus going out to the bar and watching my friends flirt with guys.

Our bridal party is composed of 8 married people and one divorcee, we have college friends that haven't tied the knot, but not many.

Of the 3 girls I hang out with the most, I am the last. But in my group of friends in general I am one of the first. I am also only 20 and most of my friends aren't even looking for a serious relationship in college. But FH has been my on and off guy since, well I started "Dating" in middle school.

However, of my 3 closest girls who are married, I am the only one having a wedding and not just JOP. Two of them got married right before their husbands went to basic training, and the other got married right after her husband came home from basic training. And well, I just sent my FH alot of letters during basic training but no marriage talk! lol

I know how you feel! Although I'm pretty young (22), I've had a hard time feeling like I'm the last one getting married. It's not so bad anymore because my wedding is in almost 5 months, but I used to feel just like this. The hardest part for me was that FH and I had been together FAR longer than anyone of my friends had been with their FH's, so I felt like I deserved to get married dangit! haha. Only one of my bridesmaids is married, and one of the groomsmen is married, but they are both younger than FH and I.

Hmm Not really. Some of my girfirends I don't talk to anymore. Mainly cause our lives took totally different paths. and They are not married

But the girls I still talk to and I am close to are married..

My closest friend right now is married, going on 3 years. FH and I went to their wedding for like our 2nd or third date. Now they are about to have a baby! So exciting.

I don't know anyone currently planning to get married though. Wish I did, then I'd have someone to plan with. Other than ladies on WW of course.

Jaclyn- its only fun sometimes when you know someone planning! I have a friend from high school getting married the same day as me and we plan together a bit and then we realize we are planning too similar and im like NO! they cant be identical!! Cause hers is at 10am and her reception is a brunch like thing, and shes having an itty bitty wedding, then her and her new husband will be at my wedding that evening before they leave for their honeymoon!

I felt this way when I was in my early 20s living in my hometown. A lot of high school friends got married right out of high school. I remember thinking about applying for the Peace Corps, and one of my friends was like, "But you won't even get back until you're 25, don't you ever want to get married????!!!???" lol.

After I moved to Denver there was a lull for a year or so, and then a wave of weddings in our late twenties. Then another lull as people were busy having babies or getting divorced. Then after a year or so, there was another solid wave of weddings. We're towards the end of the pack I would say. I'm fine with that. Smiley smile

Of friends we are the first. Some of our friends though got engaged right around the same time. My fiancé and I are the last to get married between him and his siblings.
