The little extras you absolutely have to have at your wedding.

My FH told me to make a list of things I absolutely have to have at the wedding so we can figure out how everything can fit into our budget. From dresses to table linnens to a special type of food, what are the the little extras you absolutely have to have at your wedding?

    - An excellent photographer (I'm a good amateur so if I can shoot better than the "professional"... yeah.. no).

    - A personalized wedding experience for the guest: lots of DIY's, and out of the box ideas.

    - Real flowers/plants

All this WITHIN budget. Most of my decorations are DIY, second hand, or from the dollarstore (creatively without looking cheap).

    1) Good photographer

    2) Small and simple

    3) Drive away in our Galaxie

    4) Personalized M&Ms

    5) and for some unknown reason I really wanted personalized napkins.

Centerpieces for sure! I want a bright and cheerful atmosphere so we're definitely having flowers. Also, we're having a band instead of a DJ, which is also a must for us (we love music and my SO plays instruments as a hobby.)

Also, we're having fruit and vegetable platters during the cocktail hour. I felt like we needed to provide guests with something to munch on before dinner.

Videographer...I have to be able to look back and "be" at my wedding again because I will miss more than I know!

I am having a candy buffet and I don't care who tells me it is dumb! I have wanted one from the very first moment I heard of it. Also, I am having a sparkler send off and I think it will be awesome! We are getting married on the beach and having a destination wedding which is also a dream come true. I am also having a videographer no matter who told me I didn't need one of those either.

Nice venue, good food and photography were very important to me. Everything else I don't really care about, and we're cutting a lot of corners in other areas (not doing cake, using an ipod, made origami flowers). One small silly thing that I keep throwing around in my head though is ordering room service for FH and I the next morning. We're really down to earth, practical people and I think splurging on something special like that will be fun.

I don't care about the "little things". But having an amazing dress and photographer/videographer are my main concern. I would skimp on my flowers for a better dress haha.

We did not realize all of the extras we wanted until we got about 6-8 months into the planning.

    - I ended up going with a nicer fancier dress than what I originally thought I wanted.

    - ended up getting a veil which I thought I originally did not want and spent more on a nicer headpiece and jewelry than what I thought I was going to do.

    - got toasting flutes

    - got a bride tank top and bride robe

    - we are going to be getting a two layer cake even though we only have 17 guests since FH decided he liked the look of 2 layer cakes better than 1 layer as well as getting some extra detail added to the cake.

    - we splurged on engagement photos which we thought we were not going to do but they turned out really nice so we are happy we decided to do them.

    - I got FH a present for the day of which I was not going to do but I found something perfect for him so I changed my mind.

lol when I started the planning process all I wanted was to elope on a beach in bora bora with no guests. I was going to wear a plain white dress with no accessories and do a simple 5 minute ceremony. We were not even going to have a cake and just have dinner afterwords on the beach. After we got talked into switching our plans and having a wedding the wedding has now taken on a life of its own and we have probably gone overboard with everything.
