The "Little" things you forget until the Last Minute...

Jade, on August 14, 2015 at 10:16 AM Posted in Planning 1 11

As I've mentioned before I've done a lot of the planning already, we have all our vendors, I have my dress, we did epix & sent out STDs.

I'm trying to tackle some of those pesky "Little things" that you forget (or just don't do) until the last few weeks so that I can have as much of a stress free wedding planning experience as possible.

I KNOW, I know I have a little over 9 months until our wedding but so far planning early has worked well for me & I'd like to keep it up.

- I already have an appointment to design our invitations (my cousin is gifting us services from her friend who is a graphic designer).

- I have my favors all squared away

- We've picked out our readings for our ceremony

- We've started on our music list for our DJ

What Else am I missing!?

Lol oh man Lively! My mom is taking care of the Rehearsal Dinner so luckily I dont have to do that!

I've also started compiling all the stuff for my BM gifts & we're going on our second trip to shop for their dresses this weekend

I keep having these moments. FH and I are doing a candy bar and about a month ago it crossed my mind that I will need to acquire scoops, tongs, and jars for the candy bar. If I didn't think of this my guests would be grabbing the candy out of plastic bags.

I'm sure I'll have more epiphanies throughout the next year.

I had a thread about this a week or two ago - there were a bunch of comments that might help you! Let me see if I can find the link and then I will add it.

Thank you Bethie! I totally missed that!

@Sue - lol yes I just yesterday that I have to send our pictures to the woman who is making our custom cake topper (it takes her about 8 weeks to make then shipping time). I'm trying to keep a running list of these things. I have the timeline & check list but I feel like sometimes those things miss all the little misc. stuff that couples have to do

You can't get your license yet, but, make sure you have all the paperwork you need in order, so you don't find 10 days before the wedding you're missing your birth certificate or something like that. Replacements take time, should you need them, so just be prepared!

Hotel blocks/your hotel room if you plan to stay in one?

    Groom's outfit?

    Undergarments for your dress?

    Guestbook plans?

    ANy transportation you may need?

What couples have forgotten (that I know about):

    Her bouquet

    Ring(s)

    Marriage license

I left my "something old/blue" in my purse instead of carrying the hankie. It was a blue hankie that one g'ma had given my other g'ma (lots of family history).

I just realized that we need to feed our vendors that will be with us throughout the day. We've settled our first dance song, but are still working on the father of the bride and mother of the groom songs. The checklist here on WW has been a big help to make sure I'm not missing details.

I started buying my bridal party gifts here and there so it wasn't a huge cost all at once. Also purchased centerpiece items slowly and stamps Smiley smile also remember parent gifts if you are doing them, rehearsal dinner (cake if you are having one) and keep a list of questions to ask your vendors that you come up with. Table numbers. Guestbook. Pens for guestbook. Cake knife. Champagne flutes. Obviously these are all things that you might not need. Welcome bags. Work on your songs you want for ceremony and reception.

Thank you Ladies, this is all helpful! Keep 'em coming! lol

@Stephanie - Oh yes our license & all of that paperwork is on our calendar! Can't forget that one! We did do our Hotel Block, & FH is booking the Transportation next week. We haven't done FH or the guys attire yet, We're waiting a little bit for that But I definitely have to add My undergarments to my list & decide between the 2 guests books ideas i want!

@Nancy, THE RINGS! lol we already picked out mine but I totally forgot I have to seriously sit FH down and decide what he wants! lol and my something old/new/blue!

@Jacqui722 No vows for us, we're having a (non mass) traditional Catholic wedding

@Alaina - yeah the checklist tool is great, Its helped me to get alot of the stuff I wouldn't ahve thought about done. I just want to make sure I dont miss anything especially since I have a good amount of time to get stuff done! Our DJ gave us "Homework" aka about 7 pages of questions & all of our song selections, I've been working on it slowly but I want to get it finished by the end of September.

@JCC to JCB - Thats exactly what I've been doing I have most of it and am ordering their Getting ready shirts this weekend. & yes the Stamps! lol FH gets a kick out of the monthly USPS packaget i get of wedding stamps! we're doing photo albums & framed pictures for our parents so thankfully we dont have to think of those until later, but I want to give our moms a little something the day of, so I should add that!
