Hello! I'm not sure if any of you have heard of the "Shoe Game" but it's a game where the bride and groom take off their shoes and give one to each other (So both bride and groom have a groom's shoe and a bride's shoe). Hello! I'm not sure if any of you have heard of the "Shoe Game" but it's a game where the bride and groom take off their shoes and give one to each other (So both bride and groom have a groom's shoe and a bride's shoe). The two sit back-to-back as someone asks them questions like , "Who's the better driver?" "Who's the best kisser?" "Who said 'I Love you" First?" and so on. I am not doing a Garter/bouquet toss (Personally, I don't like it) so I thought this game could have been a nice substitute.

Have any of you played this game? Have experience with this as a guest? Is it corny or fun? I read about on a Pinterest article that said, "Fun things to do at your wedding". Just wondering what you guys think of the game!

I'm not really a huge fan of games during a wedding. On the one hand, I imagine it could be fun if the questions are appropriate for the crowd. Otherwise, as Jen pointed out, it could become really awkward. Like, some of my coworkers' sense of humor would be SO incredibly inappropriate in front of certain family members and family friends. Plus, I don't get the swapping shoes. Why shoes?? And you wouldn't want it to go too long, either, or the guests might get bored. Or, if it's done during dinner, the bride and groom might get hungry, lol! When would they get to eat?

Our DJ suggested this to us. At first I thought it was weird to do games at a wedding, but I recently went to a wedding that did this and it was cute! The guests had a good laugh. I wouldn't have it go on too long though. Maybe 10 questions or so!

    Hey Mrs. E!

The shoe game can be a fun opportunity to break things up a little bit during dinner. I have done the shoe game for quite a few couples and the only thing I would say is, make sure that you have enough time for all of the formalities you are looking for.

Not every formality is set in stone and you can add or omit what you wish but, the goal is not to have the formalities over-shadow the celebration as a whole. If you hired a great emcee and entertainment company, they will be able to guide you in the right direction.

CONGRATULATIONS and happy planning! Smiley smile

That game is very common from where I'm from. If kept short, it's a funny game to watch.

I don't get it. It's a game.. Some ones supposed to win and all you do is hold a shoe up.

    How do you win?

That to me makes it nonsensical.

I think its a cute but not for a wedding, maybe at the shower or rehearsal dinner. I saw it at a wedding once and it was funny but got long and most people got restless. If you do it, make sure it doesn't ruin the flow of the evening. I wouldn't cut dancing to play the game. You could do it while people are eating or having dessert.

I've only seen it once at a wedding but I think it's cute. It just needs to be kept short and sweet and funny. I agree with Melissa on not interrupting the flow of dancing though - I don't like it when the floor gets cleared for an activity. It's hard to get the dancing going again after that.

I don't really get doing it at the wedding? It seems like more of a shower type of game.
