The struggles

Lydia, on February 21, 2021 at 2:30 AM Posted in Planning 1 17
Even though my wedding is a long way to go, but just putting somethings together isn’t as bad but found out to be as horrifying. Uuugghhhh. Soo many things to do and think about. By the end of the year I think my brain ain’t gonna be there anymore. Someone please give me tips on how to easily start for sure how to organize it as well.

    Hi, and welcome!

Have you gotten a planning book, yet? I found them to be very helpful.

Additionally, WW and the Knot and various other websites have checklists, budgeters, and many other tools to help you plan. Check out "Planning Tools" above.

Don't worry, we're all here to help!

I made a list of al the little projects I need to do. I just tackle them one at a time. My friends think I’m nuts but I have 5 months left and don’t want to scramble that last month to get it all done.

I got myself a binder and a planner ( something I’ve never done before besides just a wall calendar) this has really helped me I deal with 3 little ones running around and life is already hectic with a wedding to plan as well...start with the absolute important things you know you have to get in order first...once you get the big things out the way it comes easier

I used the checklist planner on The Knot and just took it 1 step at a time. Pick a task, accomplish it, check it off, go on to the next one. I got everything done in plenty of time and wasn't stressed out that way because I just focused on the 1 thing rather than everything at once.

Congrats & welcome to WW! I love WW for these forums but I’m not using it for our website since I’ve seen too many people having issues with their domains they bought on here. I’m using The Knot for my wedding checklist & it’s been a life saver! Keeps me on track & doesn’t overwhelm me with things I have to get done!

Remember to breathe. Try to start getting a picture of it in your head or create a wedding board. The wedding planning books, wedding wire checklist, and the knot sites are all very helpful. Sometimes it feels good to just check off the littlest of things. It will be less stressful in the long run to work on planning things one step at a time.

It helped me a lot to mentally deprioritize things neither I nor my fiancé care about or want at our wedding. Cake? Don’t care. I’ll think about that later. Photographer? Did enough research to know there are many within my budget whose styles I like so I’ll contact them when the time comes. Bridal party? Don’t want one, not bothering.

I also like to start big and work my way down to the details. It’s tempting, but don’t get wrapped up in table runners or flower girl outfits before you’ve even booked a venue, because policies (no open flames allowed!) and aesthetics (hmm a cathedral train doesn’t mesh with the barn wedding vibe) will help narrow down other things.

My fiance and I are getting married 12/12/22. As a way to not overwhelm him as he is super go with the flow, and I love lists and early preparation so to compromise, i'm asking him to help me decide on one or two tasks a month.
*We already talked about having a small 50ish person wedding before he proposed. *He proposed last month so we came up with hard number for a budget and I gave him 12 color schemes to pick his top 5.
*This month we decided on our venue and finalized our color scheme.*Next month it will be to decide our honeymoon so we know how much extra to put in savings each month.*April will be tuxes and bridesmaids dresses.*The month after it will be the itinerary for the weekend. We are getting married on a Monday so family would be able to hopefully come in town for a long weekend. I know I'm doing much more looking than him so I just Pinterest everything I like and when it comes time to talk to him about it, I send him choices so he feels involved. I'm excited that by next year tjis time it will be a cake-walk because we already decided on everything. Hope this helps!!

    5 months!?!
    You are definitely not nuts!
I have 20 months and I'm doing the same. One project at a time because waiting to the last minute is the worst!
