The Waiting Game

Alisha, on June 7, 2020 at 6:31 PM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 9

So I am doing the waiting now to see what will happen in regards to my wedding on August 9. Let me start with David's Bridal. So I called David Bridal about my dress and making an appointment for alterations back in May. It was canceled bc they did not know when they were going to open bc the city is shut down due to the virus, so I made another appointment for June. Now it is June and David's Bridal called me to let me know that they will have to ship my dress and accessories to me bc they do not know when they are going to open (maybe June 19th). They are waiting to see what is going to happen in the city. But I can take it back if I need alterations on my dress. Now onto the venue, I called them this month (June) and asked them about my wedding. Although they said it a green for my wedding (my venue is in a surrounding county), they know just as much as I know if it is really going to happen bc the city of Philadelphia just went on yellow as of June 5th. It is a waiting game bc I can not do anything else like ordering tuxes bc stores have not opened up yet and I have to wait to see bc it will determine what I need to do in regards to letting my guess know what is the deal is. I really don't want to wait but it is what I have to do. But on the positive note, my son turned 18 on May 29th and he is graduating from high school on June 9th (school district virtual graduation) and then on June 10th (his high school is giving their own virtual graduation). Then he goes of to college in September. I will miss him.

I did pick a back up date for my wedding which is next year. I will keep the package that I have with my venue. Thank goodness for that.

    Congratulations on your son!

We postponed to September, and we are also in phase 2/yellow here in VA. We can now have 50 people. I’m waiting til the end of June to make sure we are still in phase 2 so I can send at least the first 50 out. Giving myself deadline of middle of July to se did I can invite the other 50 on my original list.
Hopefully by end of the month you’ll know more! It’s the waiting and not knowing that sucks the most.

That is crazy I know that David’s bridal has been trying but they’ve been making a lot of mistakes even before Covid so just make sure you try on the dress immediately and stay up-to-date with them you got this

I feel you with this craziness. I've been engaged for two years and with my future husband for over seven years. We're done waiting. We're not going another year. We decided to cancel our big indoor wedding for about a hundred people and just elope alone on our date at a courthouse. We cancelled all our vendors besides the amateur photographer and I altered my own dress. Now we have been green lighted for "socially distant" events of up to a hundred people again in my state but that can be taken back down at any minute. All the people who got uninvited to the original wedding are on my case for a new plan or a reschedule. Like cool your jets people. We'll let you know what the new plan is when we see what the world is like in July. I'm tired of planning something new each week just for my plans to get trampled again and again.

Thanks. It is agonizing bc I want to get things don't and go smoothly. It's hard bc I still a lot to do. I have to learn how to be patient and go with it.
