This just reminds me of prom. And weddings are way more special than prom,

I like it! 😁 What do you have in mind so far? My friend had a chucks party for her birthday one year. Another friend attended a chucks wedding. I think it’s fun! As long as you have cool guests, it’ll be a hit!

I'm not sure I've heard of this before. Is it converse sneakers and suits? Other than asking for people to wear that as a dress code or having your bridal party wear it, I can't see how you'd include it in any other way in your wedding theme, but am curious to hear what other people suggest!

So my fiancé is a sneaker head. So I was thinking of letting him/groomsmen be in sneakers. My friends and I are all executives in our fields so we were going to wear tux too. I want to have a skirt over my tux so from behind it gives train/dress vibes. Also, i want to be comfortable and I also thought it would be unique.

Definitely do it! You’ll probably get a few people on here who don’t like the idea (but they aren’t invited so 🤷🏽‍♀️ LOL!!! I find it’s fairly cookie-cutter, traditional on here and that’s just not my style. So, I like and appreciate couples who step outside of the box. Congrats!

Go for it! I'd even embroider everyone's shoes with either their name or bridesmaid/MOH/etc. Chucks and Tux sounds like it'd be a fun idea!

You shouldn't tell your guests how to dress.

It’s a unique idea for a wedding. It’s your wedding so do as you please and not worry about getting approval. Sounds like an unforgettable theme wedding party and guests will always remember it

I think it's fine to have the bridal party dress this way and to encourage people to wear Chucks if they have them. Where it becomes a problem is if you require or strongly encourage people to dress a certain way. I don't own Chucks and if I had to spend $40 or $50 on a pair of shoes I could only wear once, I would probably take it out of the gift - not to be spiteful, just "this is how much I can afford to spend on the wedding". I would also not be comfortable wearing a suit, if you are expecting female guests to wear them as well.

For other ideas I would suggest a custom cake topper, themed centerpieces, maybe names for signature drinks.

No I’m not going to REQUIRE the guest to wear either for them it’s an option. I just want everyone to have the option to participate with the theme if they desire. Now the wedding party will be required.

Not trying to tell guest how to dress but they can participate if they choose but I never said that guest were obligated to participate.

I love women in tuxes/suits. I would have put my attendants in the pic below, but no time. And not to dissuade you, Lady Boss, as customizable Chucks are in the West Coast heart, but fashion has lots of sneaker options right now. Loved these Alexander McQueen's at the Bloomingdale's flagship on Lexington. And Lanvin has other elevated options with less sparkle. I would have considered, but I wanted more of a wiggle & am wearing heels myself.Themed Weddings 1

    Agree with all of this.

Chucks don't fit my feet - they are too narrow. I briefly had a pair and got rid of them because they were too uncomfortable, and I would not buy a pair just to attend someone's wedding. I also don't own a suit and while I don't think I would be uncomfortable in one, buying a well tailored suit would be more expensive than purchasing a dress and I would have no reason to ever wear it again. Plus if I did get a suit it I would not have it tailored to wear with sneakers because that is a look I would never ever gravitate towards or feel comfortable wearing in public because I don't think it would flatter me. So both of those things would be a turn off to me as a guest and would be enough for me to consider not attending. In general, I dislike theme parties because I don't like the idea of buying something I'll only wear once and otherwise doesn't fit my style at all.

It's totally fine to outfit your wedding party in a thematic way, but when you extend that expectation to guests it needs to be VERY doable - like specifying a range of colors guests probably already have in their closet - or you risk alienating and inconveniencing people.
