Can you ask if he won’t move it if you can give it a bowler cap and bow tie? Kind of make a joke about it? Or, since you’re doing tea... can you set up maybe a honey bar by him? Have a few different kinds in decorative jars? Or all the sweetners.Last thought- photo station. Bring a few props and encourage photos with him. It’ll be memorable! A good memorable! Maybe you’ll get to name it- or give the owners pictures with the best afterwards for advertising. Maybe you’ll get something out of thatbif not just a few laughs.

Instead of working against it, I would just work with it. I would poke fun at the situation by putting a fancy tea party hat on him 😆

Assuming that you booked this venue without a giant bear in the lobby, I think you're in the right to ask the owners if they're able to move the bear for your reception.
