They soldered her rings together, now what?

Anthony, on February 14, 2022 at 11:30 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

We took my fiancees engagement ring and wedding band into the jeweler to get sized. When we went to pick them up they accidentally soldered them together. Now what? Does she wear it as an engagement ring even though its a wedding set? Unsoldering it my damage it just to solder it again as a wedding set. Does she not wear anything until the wedding day? or, like the jeweler said, turn it around and have the wedding band on one side then flip it at the wedding. Anyone ever heard of this or have this happen to them? I'm tempted to buy another band to get sized and put on her hand at the wedding. any suggestions? Thank you.

Since she's planning to have them soldered together after the wedding anyway, at this point I would just wear them as is and then on the day of, you will put the soldered ring on her finger. There are plenty of couples who intentionally get them soldered together prior to the wedding to not have to do it afterward, so it's definitely not something you two are alone in doing, although you really didn't intend for it.

Thank you. It is still frustrating. She is wearing it now as the set. I may just buy another band to add on. I'm sure she won't mind.

Oh, it's absolutely frustrating. Regardless of whether or not you were planning to do it later, they should not have just done it now. That was very unprofessional of them but, mistakes happen, and it doesn't change too much in the grand scheme of things.

Has the jeweler offered anything for their mistake? I would tell them you want another band at a deeply discounted cost for their error.

Wow, I would be LIVID if this happened to me! I'm so sorry you experienced this.

I wouldn't want to wear the wedding ring and engagement ring together until I was married, so if I'd intended to have them soldered anyway, I would just wear neither until our wedding day.

I think it is very sweet you are considering buying her a new band - I would ask for an eternity type band, that I could wear as an engagement ring in the meantime, that would look nice as a stack once we were married.

I have soldered and in soldered my rings with no damage. I could be wrong but I think it’s an easy fix.

I agree that the jeweler should try and fix their mistake.

I probably would chose to not wear them till the wedding day but probably buy a cheap temporary lookalike ring to wear . Like this one is very similar to my engagement ring: https://www.amazon.com/Lemon-Grass-Solitaire-Zirconia-Engagement/dp/B07Q64Q34B/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?crid=3QOMU4QGUVEJD&keywords=fake%2Bengagement%2Brings&qid=1645133464&sprefix=fake%2Bengagement%2Brings%2Caps%2C58&sr=8-3-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzRzM4TjFVRTBRSlU5JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTMxMzI0MUpYVUYxVjJGNTFQMiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDExOTgyMjhZUloxM0s2WU5ZNSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1&psc=1

So I would likely just make due with something like that till the wedding. But I'd also make sure the jeweler gave me some sort of reimbursement or something.
