Things forgotten: What did you forget? Planning and day of

Kyla, on February 15, 2022 at 7:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 24
I am officially 100 days away ! tenor.gif
Sooo… I’m basically a first generation bride, who is planning all ALONE, which I’m fine with because Im definitely type A control freak kinda gal (working on thatttt). My grandparents had a wedding before sliced bread, but unfortunately my grandma passed due to covid last year, and no one else in my family has a clue about having a big fancy wedding 😂
This app has taught me EVERYTHING I know.
The way my anxiety is set up…. I just need to know EVERYTHING. I have about 10 lists in my phone, and everyday I think of a new minute detail that keeps me up all night! (#INSOMNIA) I just KNOW I will cry on my wedding day if something major goes wrong.😭 so let me know what you all forgot, so I don’t forget it too.
P.s. I know nothing in life is perfect, so I’m already pep talking myself not to go insane if something small happens. Butttttt I want to prevent what I can, ya know

It sounds like you're pretty on top of everything. The only thing that I'd say I forgot was to give my photographer a shot list of pictures, outside of the normal ones they do, that I would have liked to have.
The most important thing to remember is that you and your love show up and get married. Everything else is icing on the cake. All the little details we spend hours thinking about, no one else will notice if they're not there or not exactly as we planned them. It's the best day ever! Relax and enjoy every second of it.

It must have been less than a week before when my mom was randomly asking me about the stuff i bought to make sure i bought it all

so she goes "do you have cups?" yes

"do you have beverage containers?" yes

"do you have napkins?" .... I FORGOT NAPKINS omg i lied and said yes hahha

but right after i called my spouse and said OH MY GOD WE NEED NAPKINS ASAP

this was all for my social hour at the church after the ceremony. it was DIY so i was good about getting everything else except napkins which honestly you can't go without napkins

Sounds like you're on top of everything. Remember that the stress of it all can throw your cycle off-schedule. Pack Midol, Thinx and any other supplies you might need just in case.

You didn't say whether you're working with a coordinator. Make sure to share your 10 lists and all updates with your coordinator or designate a point person (not in the wedding party) and give their number to your vendors. You don't want them calling you or your SO while you're trying to get dressed. Speaking of, plan for light snacks while you & your party are getting dressed.

Chat with your officiant about who you want to sign your marriage license as witnesses. Confirm whether your officiant will mail the license after the wedding. If they won't, be clear about who they should give it to after the ceremony.

You said "I know nothing in life is perfect, so I’m already pep talking myself not to go insane if something small happens." Something small will happen. No wedding goes flawlessly (compared to all the details we obsess over). It will still be a beautiful day!

Are you staying in a hotel? Borrow their iron for a few hours and use it as a steamer!

We aren't. Smiley sad The venue is actually only 15 minutes from the house, but we are getting ready there. mine will be steamed the day we pick it up, but I worry about those bridesmaid dresses.

Congratulations! I am just under my 100 day mark too! I am also wondering what I might forget on that day. I read so many similarities between your post and myself. My best advice is to have a plan B and plan C for everything so that when something does go wrong as everyone has said it will then you have an alternative. Also try to eliminate as many responsibilities as possible for yourself. Best of Luck and always remember it is one day and you can do that day over as may times as you want in vow renewals. What is important is the love between you and your soon to be husband. xo

Yes! I definitely am trying to plan out the things I need to delegate so I can be present and focus on the LOVE instead of random things

Oh wow, I definitely didn’t think about my cycle, and I definitely need snacks (I get hangry). I’m working on delegation, it’s so hard not to say “I can just do it”. But, I know all the little tasks will add up and I definitely want to enjoy my day rather than stress the whole time. My day of coordinator and her helped definitely seem like they will help out a lot though.

Thank you! Also, I do need to make a picture list. I am terrible at remembering to take photos on vacations and things, so this is something I’d definitely forget lol

Can confirm! My wedding is 30 days away and my cycle went off the rails last month coming in a week early. And now it's late according to my updated calendar. So we're just living on the edge now LOL. I'm packing all the supplies just in case for the day of and honeymoon :/

Do you have pretty hangers for pictures of your dress? That was the one thing I forgot until the last minute

I am currently making assignments for after the wedding. Like, who's taking home my guest book and big photo from the welcome table? Who's taking the leftover cake and champagne? Who's returning the centerpiece bud vases to the florist the next day? Those kinds of "assignments" I didn't think about until recently.

I forgot the basket for the flower girl and I couldn’t find my earrings the morning of. I also lost my glasses. Still haven’t found them.
