I love my venue- love my day of coordinator - love every idea I have for my wedding BUT... As my budget is skyrocketing, I am thinking of taking a hit on my deposits given thus far and just eloping to Hawaii and having a tiny wedding of 20 people. I haven't sent out the save the dates yet, so I...

I love my venue- love my day of coordinator - love every idea I have for my wedding BUT... As my budget is skyrocketing, I am thinking of taking a hit on my deposits given thus far and just eloping to Hawaii and having a tiny wedding of 20 people. I haven't sent out the save the dates yet, so I think there is still time to decide.....Anyone else think about doing this? Am I crazy for thinking 11k is better than 29k? The higher the budget goes the more I would rather spend the money on a new kitchen and bathroom for our house....Thoughts???

I would lose about 5k I just read all my contracts last night … but right now the biggest issue was convincing my fiancé lol- he is determined to have a wedding here in so California and our venue is amazing w ocean view so I love it as much as he does but yeah if I was marrying myself I would be eloping in Hawaii 😂🤣

5K is too much to lose isn't it Smiley smile. It's cool that you have a venue with ocean views and in California Smiley smile Hawaii would be very cool though too. I've wanted to go to Hawaii for years but don't know when I'll get there. All the stuff with covid makes it difficult to travel to some places so maybe being in California is a good thing after all Smiley smile

I feel the same way. I just started the price quoting phase and I’m blown away at the cost.

I’m in the same boat, so I feel your pain. The more it keeps going up the more I want to do the same, just elope and have something intimate and not… $38,000🙄 I’ll be out 18k however so I’m still playing with the fact that it’s either out 18k or 20k more. Weddings now a days are just way too expensive

I ALWAYS wanted to elope. I have tried convincing my fiance but a big wedding is very important to him. If it isn't a huge deal to both of you I would ABSOLUTELY elope at a sentimental location with the people who are actively a part of your lives.

Completely understand! We scaled our wedding down to less than 50 guests and are trying to find ways to keep our budget down as well. ❤️

There is an all-inclusive wedding venue near where my fiance's parents live. I haven't viewed it in person yet but I'm really leaning towards that route because it takes a lot of the stress off of me. Also, it's more budget friendly to do it through them than trying to hire each vendor individually. If that plan falls through we'll elope in the Bahamas (just the two of us) and then have a reception when we get back.

After doing everything myself, I would have to say I would have done all-inclusive if I had it to do all over again.

I think downsizing people we invite is the only option I can go for to control costs. Originally we did 100 people then I thought 75 would be nice and now I am like 50 is looking super good LOL.

As much as I hate to say I am happy to hear I am not the only one... I would hate to be a member of our club! My fiance really wants a big wedding and now that I have discussed with him and shown him the budget he says he is willing to pay half of whatever it costs and we can handle any debt that is incurred. I feel better now that I know he will help no matter what the final budget.

Before you do anything, check with any of the vendors you've booked with so far to see if any of your deposits - if you've made any - are refundable. I'll tell you right now, venues tend not to be. The fact that you're only four months out doesn't do you many favors, either. I'm not saying you're wrong to chuck it all and elope. If that's what you really want to do, then by all means, go for it. I'm only saying to do all the research and cover all territories before you make a big dramatic shift that upends everything. Also, with only four months to go, you're way past the point of save the dates. Now is the time to focus on invitations, regardless of how many people you end up inviting in the end.
