Thinking of anniversary activities

Veronica, on July 15, 2021 at 2:33 PM Posted in Married Life 1 18
Hi everyone, I’ve been married for almost two years (September 3) me and my husband were talking we should do something other than dinner and a movie. And I can’t think of what other activities we can do on wedding anniversaries. Can anyone list of other activities married couple do on their wedding anniversaries???

What do you both like to do?

FH and I love to go to mini golf or the golf course lol. You could also do a weekend trip F-Sun!

In our area we have axe throwing, indoor mini golf, escape rooms. I always think of those as fun activities because they're active and sometimes involve both people working together, plus they're just a blast!

You could also do a sip & paint night. You both make fun cocktails that you've never tried before, or make your fav drinks and paint canvases together. There's videos you can follow along on youtube, or you could see if anywhere in your area has those classes!

I'm actually trying to see if FH likes the idea of us taking a nice trip for every anniversary, and each year will be somewhere different. I'm wanting to take a polaroid photo at each place and keeping it in a photo album for us to look at over the years.

We go for picnics, fires, we set up a bed outside and stargaze! We are tourist in our own town and go explore our parks like we haven’t been there! It all depends on what you like, we love being outdoors so anything outdoors is perfect for us!🙂 maybe a cooking class? FH and I love cooking and we do it if we lived in a city!

Hello ! Oh, there's a lot of possibilities! Some wine tasting ? Wine/cheese pairing? Painting together ? A SPA? Some ax throwing ? Smiley laugh

We try to adapt our activities or gifts to the name of the anniversery ;-) So for cotton anniversary we went to the hotel where we were married - with a great bed and sheets... in cotton ;-) We had a possibility to have a dinner served in the room and then breakfast in bed.

What we like doing is also making photos every year - sometimes in the same places as our wedding or with the same poses... It'll surely be memorable as in 2019 we are free and happy and in 2020 we had to wear masks... But we definitely want to continue this tradition.

We try to take a small trip every year around our anniversary. One year we went to a waterpark and stayed 3 nights. We take a lot of trips like 8-10 hours away because we love road trips together. Similarly, for other date nights we have driven to a town we haven't been to before and picked some random stuff to do that we see as we're driving past.

Other dates we've done that were memorable were racing go karts, going to the zoo and making a day trip out of it, massages... I think the best dates are just doing new fun things together and maybe just scaling them up for a bigger anniversary date.

My plan for us is each year on or around our anniversary to take a short trip to a different state. I want to have one of those photo maps of the US and each time we go somewhere new I want to put a new pic in. I haven't decided yet if we'll visit the places we've already been/live or do something special in each of those places again.

I would stop focusing on "activities married couple do on their wedding anniversaries" and instead brainstorm together on a list of activities you like to do together and/or have always wanted to try, visit, or learn. Look at local guidebooks and the internet to find regional places and things you didn't know were available. Ask your friends and local family for their "secret spots" and where they take out of town visitors. Include things that can happen in other seasons of the year (annual festivals and events, seasonal foods, etc.). Make sure you list splurge and budget items.

Then use that list throughout the year, not just on your anniversary. Don't save fun stuff for just once a year!

You could do Paint Nite or have a date night at a Winery. My husband and I have ALWAYS taken trips on our anniversary even before being married even if it was just a weekend trip

For our 2 year anniversary we went on a mini trip to a town about 3 hrs away. Had dinner, walked around and shopped. It was fun, different, and nothing fancy.
For Christmas i got us one of those adventure books where you scratch off a date idea. You could get one of those. But, I would focus on something you guys like to do.

This was a kind of unexciting spot but worth it for the sappy/cheesy factor — for our first wedding anniversary we went out to the place we went to for our very first date Smiley smile

Our second anniversary was peak covid era so we weren’t comfortable going out anywhere , but for our “stay in” meal we recreated one of the entrees for our wedding, and were able to find a bottle of one of the wines we served at the wedding. Super low key, but sentimental !

What kind of things do you enjoy doing? There are a ton of things you can do hypothetically.

Some of the things we've done on our anniversaries (there have been a lot of them):

    Taken a cruise
Visited New York (we went to the top of the Empire State Building at the time we got married)
Vacationed in cities in our state (we did this twice - St. Augustine, and Fort Myers)
    Went bioluminescent kayaking
    Took a couple's painting class
Revisited our wedding venue (an art museum) and took a tour and a tile-making class
    Went to a science museum
Went to an ice bar (literally what it sounds like - a bar carved out of ice)
Wandered an art district and took pictures with the murals (Covid anniversary - outside activity)
    Went to a dinner-theater show
    Did an escape room
    Went bowling
    Went rollerskating
    Took a glassblowing class

Admittedly, we started big with things like cruises and out-of-state trips, and as time has gone on, the activities have been closer to home. It's now a fun challenge to try to find something we haven't done before.

Take a getaway, those are always fun! Pick a location where there are activities that you both enjoy doing! Remember to pack some nice lingerie, candles, bath bombs or bubble bath and 2 glasses and a nice bottle of wine❤

Actually, I like the idea of doing something new you haven’t done together before: cooking class, a hike or picnic in a new place, paint & sip class, yoga class, etc. I might need to borrow that idea!

Hubs and I married 2 years this July 31st...May go on a brunch cruise. For gifts around this time, he got me a white and yellow sapphire bracelet (jewelry stan here🤩) and got him some customized rollerblades 🤣

That said the world is crazy and weird right now still. I suggest just pick something mutually enjoyable to establish another memory together 😀 good luck
