DONT DO IT! I was one of those brides who was like "oh I know they will cost money, but they will all be so cute. I dont care what people say!!" DONT DO IT!

I was one of those brides who was like "oh I know they will cost money, but they will all be so cute. I dont care what people say!!"

Then $80 later for the cameras and $100 for developing, and all i have are a bunch of pictures from people who did not use the flash right, of the floor, random back of heads, bad qaulity, and maybe only 10 usable pictues. We even took the cameras that werent finished on the honeymoon, and they came out terrible. I have enclosed an example of what my pictures look like, ew

So ladies, please please take my advice and stay away.

I also set up a shared Shutterfly website so all our family and friends can upload their pictures there. Much better idea! (and its free!)

@Brian- that's a really awesome service! I haven't seen any other photogs offering that, they should!

Shellie- are you a photographer? I feel like I see you "taking on" the photogs here a lot....

Brian C - that is a GREAT service Smiley smile

I agree on the disposable cameras. My cousin had them at her wedding and she said she got maybe 30 blurry photos of them doing their first dance and everything else was either the floor, the centerpiece at the table or someone taking a picture of their feet. There was one classic pic in the bunch though. One of the guests went to the bathroom and shot a pic of his ass. Smiley tongue

Ana T- that's what most true professional photogs are... Just most of us brides (myself included) are more concerned with saving a buck than getting good quality. This site really opened my eyes to how much of a difference there is between someone who can take a pretty picture and a professional.

I don't shoot professionally, but i've done photo editing/printing for 6ish years now. I work in a professional photo lab (i'm not talking wal-mart here)- so i know photo processing. the actual taking of the photos i'll leave to the pros. But i'm well schooled in the science/theory behind photography.

I'm not "taking on" anyone. I just have a (bad?) habit of being very opinionated when it comes to photos. What Brian has said in this post is right- but it's also true that even if the film is brand new- most people won't use the cameras properly and your pictures can turn out bad. regardless of the age of the film. I know enough about photography concepts to know that it takes a very skilled professional to be able to instinctively know what lighting conditions will yield certain results.

even someone like me who knows how photography works (iso, shutter speed, aperture, sensors size, etc) still has to use some trial and error, so your average wedding guest will not fair any better.

That's all cool and everything...but this post isn't really about any of that....You don't need to prove yourself to us with technical jargon, really. We all get it, disposables are bad, mmkay.

....i don't think i was trying to prove my self with any "technical jargon" i was just stating why disposables work some of the time and don't work others....

I'm sorry if you don't agree with something I've said or the way I've said it. But i don't think i've been our of bounds on anything i've said. people ask questions- i try and explain my answers.

Many people have cell phone cameras now, so I think the disposable ones are redundant (and don't work well!).

Sorry that happened Id be upset too if I spent $80 and didnt have pictures to show for it. I only spent $30 on mine. Ive heard the stories on wedding wire too of brides mentioning its a waste. But from friends and family I have heard nothing but great stories and have seen great pictures. So Im gonna take my chances.
