Those TTC/newly pregnant - a word of warning

When I was 7 weeks pregnant, I started having shooting shoulder pain, and anal pressure. It felt like a really bad knot in my shoulder and I was horribly constipated. This went on for about 3 days. I had no cramping in my abdomen or bleeding what so ever. It never once occurred to me that something was wrong with the baby. None of the signs were there. I had morning sickness, and everything. Half way through the third day, I was feeling sick so I laid down (I work from home). My cat started freaking out trying to get me up, which is not like her at all. When I did, everything went black for a few seconds. So I called my husband and we went to the ER. I had an ectopic pregnancy that had ruptured. The pain in my shoulder and anal pressure were due to..

Thank you everyone for the support and love. I've tried the past few days to post this. I typically get about half way and turn off my computer. So I apologize at how dry and almost educationally it was written but all I could do was get out the info and press submit quickly. lol

I am fortunate that I got to the ER when I did. If the damn cat didn't pester me like crazy I would have laid down from 12:30 pm to 6pm by myself. It could have been a much different story. I'm physically healed now, and no longer anemic. It's just still not an easy story to tell. I honestly wanted to be selfish and not share it. Like a PP said, there's a ton of guilt, even when things were out of your hands. Hopefully no one will ever need this information, but if they do- they can seek treatment sooner than I.

Side note: I'm really thankful that so many ladies had never heard of the shoulder pain and anal pressure a sign of an ectopic! The ER staff and everyone thought my husband and I were morons for not even considering that it was baby related....

I'm sorry for you loss, but thank you for having the strength to share it so others can be aware of it.

And yay for your kitty, I hope she/he gets special treats for a while. They somehow know us better than we know ourselves.

Wow I know absolutely nothing about pregnancy, so this is helpful for the day we decide that is our next step. I'm so sorry this happened to you but so thankful for your kitty. It's amazing how animals can detect those things, maybe humans aren't all that superior after all! I'm sure that kitty is getting a lot of loving. I'm so sorry for your loss and can't imagine what you're going through.

Thank you for sharing and I'm incredibly sorry for your loss. We lost our baby at 9 weeks, thinking we were 12 weeks last July. I know from experience that miscarriage is a very painful situation, both physically and emotionally. Just know you are never alone.

(((HUGS))) I had no idea those were symptoms either. A lot of times people in the medical field expect you to know things that are obvious to them, but since you don't see similar situations on a regular basis, of course it's not obvious to you. Take things one day at a time.
