Those who purchased items to resell

Michelle, on February 19, 2021 at 3:58 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 3

How much money did you get back in the end percentage wise? Did you feel it was a better choice than renting items, when time and labor (spent cleaning items, photographing to put online, setting up the listings to the final sale/delivery at minimum wage per hour) are considered? Is there anything you would have done differently?

In my opinion, rentals became so expensive because of the delivery fee. It might make sense if you gotta rent your whole event like tables, chairs, tableware, decorations.
I only needed to buy decorations and those didn’t make sense to rent. I’m still in the process of selling items, I spent around $500 on decor and so far I’ve made back $130. I’m not looking at making all my money back just some and giving deals to other brides at the same time

I purchased a lot of things for ceremony decor -- lanterns, LED flameless candles, an arch, columns, vases, etc. I probably spent $500 on the items themselves. My sister and I are thinking about adding to my collection and starting a decor rental business for small weddings/events.

I sold our chargers, napkin rings, and votive candle holders. I got about 50% back on the chargers and napkin rings. I don’t remember about the candle holders.
I got a good deal on everything I bought, so I didn’t mind selling them at a great price. I didn’t buy or sell them wanting to make money. I bought everything to save money and be easier on me. I sold them to get rid of it because I didn’t want it cluttering my house. It was all stuff we didn’t need in bulk. I saved a few chargers and candle holders. If I were to do it again, I’d do the same thing. It wasn’t too much of a hassle and buying it myself saved money.
