Thoughts on a Honeymoon-fund Bridal Shower?

So here is my situation: I didn't want a bridal shower because my home is already cluttered with things and I wanted to put all my money into the wedding, not another party. My mom and aunts though have made the executive decision that I am having a bridal shower and they are throwing it for me....

So here is my situation: I didn't want a bridal shower because my home is already cluttered with things and I wanted to put all my money into the wedding, not another party.

My mom and aunts though have made the executive decision that I am having a bridal shower and they are throwing it for me. They've done it for all my cousins, so I guess who am I to say no?

The thing is though, I really really want to go on a honeymoon and don't have the cash for it now because we are putting it all into the wedding.

Is it TOTALLY tacky if I have a "European Travel" themed bridal shower? Food and drinks from the countries I am visiting, guest can write wedding tips on postcards, I can register online for honeymoon activities and travel gear or they can give cash?? Would you totally hate that and be annoyed if you were invited to a shower like that? Looking for honest opinions.

I went to a honeymoon shower. The invitation specifically stated that money would not be counted at the shower. We just placed the card with money in a decorated box. We played a few games and ate and had alot of fun. I'm thinking about having one myself now because I've been in my house for 5 years now and really don't need anything.

I would be really interested in reading the wording of that invite! We absolutely do not need anything for our house and love the idea of that!

I 100% understand what you mean even if some of the others didn't - I do not think its tacky (in fact I think its a great idea) but you may want to err on the side of the "travel accessories" and anyone who doesn't get you something from that registry would hopefully just put cash in a card! You may not get a lot but it doesn't really seem like the gifts are all that important to you anyhow!

Would you mind giving/showing an example of your invitations? I'm wanting to do this and having trouble with wording!

Sure! This isn't exactly it, but it was very similar to this. I registered on Amazon for travel gear and and Air B&B gift cards, then I had a Travler's Joy registry for honeymoon activities.

Hi Berta! We are doing the same but for a cruise. Unfortunately I already said no physical gifts in the invites but I never mentioned no cards. But I am curious to learn how you did the shower itinerary. What activities did you do? I will send you a pm. I want to know more about your shower!!!

I love the idea. A honeymoon is so important..... you share something special that you can hold onto for years after it. My son and his fiancé have been living together for a couple years, they don't need anything for their house.... but a special honeymoon..... that would be a wonderful gift.
