Thoughts on a Polaroid Photo Booth During the Reception?

ap2al, on January 11, 2018 at 3:51 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11

Good afternoon ladies (and gents)!

I was thinking of getting the Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 polaroid camera for our wedding (and just to have as well) and using that for a DIY photo booth/selfie-station for guests to use during cocktail hour and throughout the night. I really would like a Photo Booth but our venue is kind of small to place one in the main reception hall; I was thinking maybe using the polaroid camera with a backdrop at one of the corners of the venue would work better. This all stems from me not loving the idea of people leaving the main hall/room where the dancing and food/drinks are to take photos; I feel the Photo Booth would be forgotten and not properly utilized for the evening.

Again, this is just a thought that came to me earlier today, so it may not even be feasible. I know one issue would be the price of the film, but if I buy film every pay check, I should be good.

Thoughts? Experiences? I would love any and all advice. Thanks in advance!

My friend did it at her wedding and she had strings to hang the guest's photos up. It was very fun! And it also acted as her guest book.

I've been thinking about his too! I really want one, but i'd prefer the money go towards a videographer. I've heard pros are against this, but i feel like it could be kinda fun!

My friends who met on our semester abroad (and married each other years later) did this with a backdrop of the Eiffel Tower and berets and croissants for props. It was adorable. Make sure there is good lighting - the room where they had it was dark so the pics were dark. It was a bit of a bummer!

I'm thinking of doing this too because this is what I want to do for a cake topper. I'm trying to find a used one on wedding resale groups but haven't had luck.

My friend did that - she had two cameras (keep in mind, if you just have one, it might be hard to get ahold of it if people keep taking pictures lol)

I’m doing this, with a guestbook where people can add their photos. Fair warning that it is expensive, and stuff adds up - camera, film, guestbook, pens, tape etc.

I’m doing this for my guestbook! I have the camera, which was gifted to me, and I plan to buy the film slowly over time because like you said, they are expensive! I’m planning to have a little table set up with all of the stuff (like the camera, film, DIY props, markers and book). My aunt offered up to sort of watch the area to make sure no one has an issue with what to do with everything.

I bought that exact camera and plan to use it for my DIY photo booth at the wedding! I plan on asking for film for my bridal shower which will also help with cost. Instead of a formal guest book I'll use the photo book as my guest book! A co-worker of mine did this and her pictures look awesome! You can buy the backdrop and stand off of amazon. Backdrops are around $20 and the stand is under $30. Very reasonable! Especially compared to hiring someone to come in with their own photo booth! You can get props on there too super cheap! Good luck!
