Thoughts on baby's breath?

Rosie, on July 7, 2010 at 10:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 31

I shocked myself today when I realized I kind of like baby's breath centerpieces. What's your honest opinion...is it ugly? Cheap? The BMs and I will have pink peonies in our bouquets...would the styles clash? Being inexpensive would be an added bonus, but I'm curious about whether you think it looks pretty and romantic or not. The third picture is baby's breath, bunches of carnations, and roses. Thoughts please!!

I actually think that I want my bouquet to be baby's breath Smiley smile I LOVE it!! I think that it's beautiful and simple which makes it very elegant to me.

The last pick is actually blue hydrangea, I think it would look better with white or cream tbh..but I must say, they are really quite nice! Very light and airy, simple. I like it!

I too dislike baby's breath, but the photos show that it can be used in a pretty way. Not for me, but it doesn't look ugly or cheap.

I think the bouquet looks beautiful...the difference is it is fresh baby breath...dried bb would not look as pretty.

I think those look very pretty and would definitely use them, but beware! I work at a wedding store that also does flowers and we use it from time to time and it smells strange.... i can't remember if it is worse when it is fresh or when it is not as fresh, but the smell somewhat reminds me of those white trees in the spring, do you know what I mean?

Not a fan. Your pics are nice though. Just reminds me of my mothers 2nd wedding that was in Vegas. Conjures up memories of her poofy dress with the huge sleeves.....ick.

I personally am not a fan. But I don't like it even with something. It's your wedding though my dear :-)

To be totally honest, I wouln't use it, it reminds me of the 80s. That said, I think when used in a more modern way, like in pommander type arrangements, and mixed with other flowers, it can look really nice and add a lot of texture. It's just not my taste, personally. But, it's not MY wedding!

BTW_ the pommanders that I posted, the BB is mixed with queen anne's lace to add texture. I heart QAL.

Haha eew I forgot that it smells funny! I was never, ever a fan of baby's breath...I thought it always looked pretty tacky, especially when mixed in with other flowers. I do like it in bunches by itself, but I doubt I like it enough to actually use it...it's just kind of different and reminded me a little bit of lace (and my girls and I will have a whole lot of lace). I definitely don't want to be giving off an 80s vibe or conjuring up tragic memories of perms and stretch pants for our guests! Thanks for your opinions, girls Smiley smile

I like the lacey quality you are talking about Rosie but there might be better ways to do it in the flowers. Analy Queen Anne's lace makes me sneeze. it grows wild here and causes me hay fever symtooms.

At my best friend (and FSIL) wedding, we (the MOH and BMs) all had babies breath in our hair. It was beautiful!
