Thoughts on Costco Wedding flowers for very small/intimate local wedding (50 people or less)?

Delaney, on May 23, 2022 at 2:40 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

I have received quotes from florists and also have been ignored by many when I ask for quotes so at this point I am leaning towards just ordering from Costco for ceremony bouquets etc. (ceremony at church will already have other flowers due to Easter being right before the wedding date so will not need to purchase those). Then, wedding reception venue is a cute building overlooking the beach so already has a pretty view so we are going pretty simple with our reception flowers (eucalyptus runners with flowers interspersed). I have read good reviews on the Costco flowers and have heard guests won't know the difference. I am fine with the pre-selected color options etc. that I can choose from. The florist quotes I have received have been twice as much as what I would pay for the Costco flowers and I have contacted several places. Any advice/opinions on going with Costco flowers? We are trying to limit our flower cost but still want pretty flowers. Thanks!

I have a very small 35 person wedding. We ended up going with Fifth Flowers and another company I can’t recall. I made my bouquet as well as two bridesmaids bouquets and the boutonnières. The prices were amazing and the flowers were gorgeous. I know you asked about Costco but also check Fifty Flowers as they have fully curated collections.

Bouqs is another option that’s like fifty flowers. We’re just getting our flowers from Safeway- for the exact reason that guests won’t be able to tell the difference and it’s much cheaper

I'd go to a local wholesale florist in person and get a quote. They may be cheaper than Costco. I ordered bulk wedding flowers from Costco (just a bunch of loose stems for centerpieces.) They were great. I've also ordered bulk rose petals from them, and they were infested with black bugs!

When doing florals, now husband and I agreed to use an in person vendor that we could talk to if there was a problem.
A lot of vendors aren't good at getting back to people if you message them, and I do think they tend to give smaller weddings less priority. But if you go in person, they can give you a quote on the spot and you can see what you like.

My sister is getting baby’s breath and greenery for each of her tables from Costco which I think there are 15 tables total and she spent 200 dollars which I don’t think is terrible ! Flowers are expense … our total was almost 2,000 😳

I would absolutely use Costco flowers if you don’t want to pay regular wedding florist prices. Be prepared for a lot of DIY that isn’t completely a savings but still is way less than many minimum quotes. Other options are fiftyflowers.com and check with the local grocery store florist who can put together something inexpensively.

I say go for it, but I'd also consider Trader Joe's! The one by me always has a really wonderful variety and during the spring they have the BEST and most affordable peonies around.

Definitely checkout Costco for wedding flowers my cousin used Costco and I think my brother did too, they were beautiful! A friend of mine got her flowers and cake from Publix and they were gorgeous too (Costco also has tasty sheet cakes). Good luck!
