Thoughts on weight watchers

Meet_The_Clarks, on November 16, 2016 at 9:07 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 17

I was wondering if anyone has had success with weight watchers? I've recently went back to the gym but am looking for an additional support system. Do you feel the money was worth joining?

I started weight watchers 4 weeks ago. I have lost 10 pounds so far. I have done it in the past as well. It really helps me to not over eat and keeps me in check when snacking.

I cannot say enough about weightwatchers! joined Weightwatchers in February and it was the best decision I could've made for my health. It really teaches you how to control your portion sizes as well as sugar intake, both of which were always my downfall. They also have a social network aspect called Connect, which provides so much support and inspiration. They always say Weight watchers is not a diet, it's a lifestyle. I've lost 47 pounds so far Smiley smile

I lost about 50 pounds using it after college, and have kept almost all of it off. I'm on it now to lose about 20 before the wedding Smiley smile I'm 6 down in 3 weeks!

I did it when I was in high school, and before they had all the processed frozen stuff. It was a great way to learn about nutrition and serving sizes, and it has really stood me in good stead my whole life. I think if you avoid the processed stuff (which is true for anyone wanting a healthier diet and to lose weight) it's a great program.

My thoughts? I don't want to have to pay money to lose weight when I can do it for free.

I did a 3 month trial for $39 and it just was not for me. I prefer myfitnesspal and using their forums for motivation/tips/tricks. I think it was the fact that 8 jellybeans were more points than most dinners and it was around Easter time (I really really love jellybeans)... I do think it is worth giving it a try though because I am in the minority.

I also have a lot of friends who rave about beachbody. It's more expensive but you can do the workouts at home and you get a coach who works with you one on one.

They also have changed the program recently in a positive way. They count points differently for calories that come from protein/fat/carb/sugar so that you can eat 100 calories of chicken breast and it will be less points than 100 calories of brownie. It helps to steer you towards healthier choices.

I also echo what @AlwaysMrs said about avoiding the processed meals, if you cook healthy meals yourself you'll end up way more satisfied and it will be easier to maintain after you stop counting points.

I'm not using official Weight Watchers but I use an app called my "itrackbitesplus" that is essentially off brand Weight watchers haha. It calculates your daily points and then you log what you're eating. It will adjust based on weigh ins and I think you can input fitness data to earn extra points. I haven't weighed myself but I've gone down a pants size which I call success! The app is less than five dollars, which is great too!

I've lost weight on WW! I never joined, I just found out my daily points and weekly points allowance, and use an app to track my points. I'm starting to get back on track now. I know it works! The app I use is called WWDiary (for Android), there are similar (but not as good!) apps for iPhone. I love it because it's realistic. You can have dessert! And you're not eating anything crazy or specialized.

I went to a few weight watcher meetings with a family member and I absolutely loved them- it seems like an excellent set-up! (Sidebar here but weight watchers used to make mini ice cream sandwiches that I would die for...I really wish they would bring them back!) :-D

I love WW, and lost a ton of weight while I was following it. I've fallen off the wagon lately and gained some of it back but I'm a big fan of the program.

I never went to the meetings but I used the app. I loved it! It helped me learn healthy habits and make different food choices. I lost about 15 pounds, which was my goal. I'm thinking of downloading it again, it was really helpful!
