Thoughts on Zola?

mmbrake28, on April 8, 2018 at 7:30 PM Posted in Registry 1 18

Has anyone else used Zola for a traditional wedding registry? We're not going to do the honey fund or anything like that....but I love the idea of having a bunch of different brands compiled onto one site. Thoughts? Any experience? Likes/dislikes as a wedding guest?

I am using this along with a few other ones. Zola is awesome for its features of other sites but it can be frustrating if people want to purchase multiple items with the way it can redirect you. Make sure you send them to the site or it will give you money (I believe) instead of the gift. I opted for a few registries for that reason. I LOVE how you can organize and add photos by category. Made it very personal. Def has its perks and cons.

I think their selection seems limited. Also they are a little too high end. I wish they had more basic brands. I don't need a $75 table cloth. But I like it overall and will be issuing it so people can chip in for a larger item that I would like.

Agreed!! Where else did you decide to register with? Thinking of doing Zola/Amazon/Crate & Barrel? Or maybe Bed Bath & Beyond....not sure.

I do wish they had more selection and some lesser expensive items!! But I also love the group feature. Might use it in conjunction with a few other places.

You can register other places and add to your zola registry so it's all in one place, that's a big reason we chose it

Zola is really expensive - Amazon is a universal registry and allows for group gifts. We are using Zola for our wedding website and Amazon for our registry, since they have the same features and are more reasonably priced.

We are using Zola and agree with a lot of the above. They are more expensive - that’s how they actual profit - they get a percentage of what it’s sold for. The seller still sets the price but a lot of them raise it to account for Zola’s cut.

One thing that does separate Zola for me is that when a guest purchases something and wants it sent to the couples house, the couple is notified and gets to select when it’s delivered. That way if you’re on a vacation or something it won’t be delivered without your permission.

We have Zola, Amazon and BB&B.

We did Amazon, BBB, Macys, William Sanoma, and Overstock. Then we looked at how much stuff we had on each one. We realized our bulk was on Macys and Amazon. We added the other items from BBB, WS, and Overstock onto the Zola account. We kept Amazon because of the prime feature for a lot of people and Macy's since it is generally really easy to shop from them. Plus we loved the perks from Macy's and Amazon. If you are interested in Macy's I suggest you check out their events. We went to a registry event and put our names in for a lottery. There weren't many people at it and we ended up winning a very nice food processor! Plus they gave us free food and mocktails.

We are using BBB and Zola. I actually prefer the Zola registry to BBB.

I started with Zola, but really ended up not liking it. I am using Blueprint and prefer it to Zola

I heard terrible things about Zola. A former regular on here use them for the universal registry and said she had a terrible time getting her items. She did not receive them until a good six months after her wedding. I looked at them and found their wording to be confusing and kind of sletchy. We ended up going with Amazon for our universal registry. It was super user friendly, trustworthy and they have a widget you can add to your browser so you can add things from any website.

Would definitely recommend Amazon over Zola.

Loved using Zola. I added my west elm registry, so everything lived in one place. For me it was about some of the unique benefits: delayed shipping, everything in one place and the gift tracker was pretty transparent with shipping times, etc.

Hi Melissa, I'm also registering on both Zola and West Elm and for some reason I'm having issues putting my West Elm items on my Zola registry. I was able to put items from other websites on Zola just fine. Do you have any tips on how to get Zola and West Elm to work together?

Hey Allison! Sorry for the delay, I was out of office for the long weekend. Hope you had a good one! Hmm - strange about West Elm, I also had an issue with them since they have multiple products on their page and it (Zola) was pulling the wrong items since there were many to choose from - the same thing happened with Pottery Barn. Did you try emailing support?

I was doing it the old fashioned way by copying and pasting the website, but once I installed the button everything worked! All I had to do was make sure I corrected the price. So now I have most of my registry items there and some on amazon.

You can do Crate and Barrel through Zola.
We are doing Zola, Amazon and Bed Bath Beyond.
What I like about Zola is the ability to have a “fund” as an option (we are doing a honeymoon fund). What I don’t like is the “ability to add items from any site” only sounds good on the surface. Your guests will then have to give money to Zola, which then goes to you, for you to buy the item.

I directed my guests to the specific stores when I "added items from any site" and my guests were directed to West Elm to buy the items. You just have to change how you have it set up!

Do not use! Their site will not update your registry and has no information to help return things. I’m receiving multiples of gifts with the registry still saying they are unfulfilled and cannot return things. Avoid!
