Throwaway Flatware and Utensils

Ballfield2017, on July 12, 2016 at 11:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

Hello! Has anyone had any experience with throwaway flatware and utensils for a weeding? My venue and caterer each charge $5/person, and we are looking for some less expensive alternatives, that still look nice. Please recommend away and let me know your experience with this type of flatware and utensils.

Did you try Party City? They have pretty silverware in silvers and blacks which pretty much match any style/theme.

Smarty had a party online. Frankly? I'd use real utensils.

I got mine at Posh Party Supplies. They're quite nice.

Bjs sells "real" appearance disposables. I would think Costco and Sam's would too. Not sure what prices are like, but I feel like you would spend more as people throw away their stuff and get more for dessert or spoons to stir coffee, than if you just paid the $5. I could be wrong though.

For that price you could go to the dollar store and get real utensils.

    Good call sarah!

I wont give it a second thought if I encounter plastic plates at a wedding but utensils need to be metal. Try goodwill or $ tree

I second, Smartyhadaparty. They have "upscale" plastic utensils, cups, etc.

I was going to buy a bunch of silverware from Target. 4 place settings for their cheapest stuff were only $10 a pop last time I checked online. They also had an option to buy silverware separately, as in 80 forks or 35 spoons.

I've been torn between buying mismatched china from thrift stores/from family and buying fancier paper plates. I've already started buying beautiful mismatched china because I love the look of it but its starting to add up. I'll for sure be getting real forks though. I hate plastic forks Smiley tongue

For plates we are getting the "fancy" plastic plates from Sam's Club. They are thicker. The venue is just my aunt's house so they obviously don't have utensils and dishes and we had no interest in finding a place to rent those from. The food and vibe is "family barbecue" (but obviously it will be catered). Our caterer does not provide dishes either, only food. As long as it's not too flimsy disposables should be just fine. There isn't anywhere to wash dishes except her kitchen sink anyway so I think that would be too much of a hassle.

Costco does sell the real looking plastic ware as well. That is what we are using.

We used the sturdy stuff from Sam's Club and it was great. Smartyhadaparty is a great source as well. I would use real if your menu includes anything that needs cutting though.

I'm using webstaurant.com. it's a website that supplies stuff to business and restaurants, so the prices are amazing plus you can get silverware that is throwaway buy with the look, feel, and weight of actual silverware. I'm also getting plates and stuff that look real. They're white with gold trim. I use them for B-Day parties and other events. Also my wedding.

I am using the heavy duty clear silverware from sams and then there clear plates. I never look down on the clear stuff but Shays question Styrofoam and the white plastic silverware.

In fact, I don't use throwaway flatware and utensils for a weeding, however I use the common flatware utensil as it is rather light in weight.

This is the flatware utensil set I am using. Throwaway Flatware and Utensils 1

    What would you think?
