Throwing autumn leaves for exit, need advice

Kayli, on October 18, 2017 at 5:29 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14

My fiancé and I want to throw real autumn leaves for our wedding send-off. The wedding is about a month out, and there are tons of beautiful leaves falling now. Does anyone have experience using real leaves for a send-off? Should I preserve them by pressing or ironing? Thanks!

I love leaves and I love fall, but this sounds really challenging, and transporting real leaves to and from will be hard without them crumbling. I suggest fake leaves for the pics.

All I'm imagining is bugs and lots of allergies issues. I say go fake.

If you do fake leaves you probably need to have some type of plan to clean them up. They'll probably blow away and that's just not safe for the environment. I'm sorry but I don't see how this can turn out well.

This picture probably took place in the fall and they weren't even planning on throwing leaves. It was a good photo op for them but might be challenging to plan especially if your wedding isn't until Nov. Might seem kind of out of place also if there are no leaves on the trees to begin with

You're not going to be able to preserve them. They'll dry up and be crunchy in a week. Even if you could, that would take such a long time to do each individual leaf - you need more than a month to do that. Fake ones will blow away and be hard to clean up. That picture doesn't look like a send off, anyway, it looks like a bridal party picture that just happened to be taken in an area where there was a lot of leaves on the ground.

Maybe try freeze dried flowers in fall colors.

I don't think that's real. The position of their arms doesn't look like they've actually been throwing anything. I think the leaves were added in editing. Which makes sense, since real fresh leaves would be very messy and hard to source.

Probably a photo shopped pic. The trees in the background are bright green.

My nose is clogging up just thinking about it. Although I love the idea of it (who doesn't love fall?!) There are guests with allergies to think of.

My first thought was if you use real leaves you'll be spending the rest of the night picking leaf bits out of your hair! No thanks. If you can use fake leaves in a somewhat confined space like a courtyard so they don't blow away, that would be a better option.
