Thursday wedding 2021

GINA, on May 13, 2020 at 10:55 AM Posted in Planning 1 13
Hey y’all...
I had to finally postpone my August 22 wedding for next summer.

My venue is completely booked and it looks like we’re gonna have to opt out for a Thursday wedding which I don’t mind but has anyone done that? It’ll be in June or July.We feel like a Thursday wedding in summer DOESNT sound too bad and it’s actually a cheaper option.
What are y’all thoughts on Thursday weddings? we live in LA, CA

I think it depends on your guests. If you have a lot of out of town guests then I wouldn't recommend a Thursday wedding.

They’re all pretty much local. I think like maybe 6 people are out of town

The other challenge is going to be work because if you have it too early people will after to leave work early and if you have it too late they will have to take the next day off.

I think a Thursday wedding at 4:00 p.m. is a bad idea. Majority of people work until at least 5:00 p.m. Could you push your start time until at least 5:30 p.m.? This will allow people to take less time off of work. If you need to have your wedding at 4:00 p.m., it should be on a Saturday or Sunday.

I would make sure that time works best for the people that are most important to you like parents, siblings, grandparents and your wedding party otherwise I would think that would work.

I'd be cool with going to a Thursday wedding personally.

We are doing a destination wedding next year on a Thursday since all our guests will be there for the entire week and it’s way cheaper to do it on a Thursday than a Saturday.

If you are in LA, I think whether you hand it a 4 or at 5:30, people are going to have to take the same amount of time from work, so I don’t think pushing it to 5:30 is any better, snd in fact, will be worse with traffic. As long as they have time to plan, it should be be a problem! Considering they have over a year, you’ll be fine since most are local. If you had more out of towners, I’d at least push for a Friday, if Saturdays were totally out of the question. .

My fiancé and I chose a Thursday because it was cheaper. A lot of our friends and family thought it was a nice idea because they get to have a 4 day weekend. I was not into the idea of a Thursday wedding but once I saw how family and friends reacted I decided to go with it.

Hi! I’m in LA too. I think as long as the location is decent and not in some one way in/out route during rush hour, you’re fine. Having it start at 4 should work decently too. Can you get it any earlier? 3:30ish? Is it in LA proper?

I don’t like weekday weddings because it causes people to have to take off work. However, if it’s your only option, I’d do it as late as possible. Maybe a 6:00 or 6:30 start time.

If it was local I wouldn’t have any issue with a Thursday wedding at 4! I’d just leave work a bit early and wouldn’t mind that at all as a guest. Also if it was for family or best friend I wouldn’t mind either way local or not especially given the circumstances. I’d make sure VIPs are all okay with it. But otherwise go for it!
