Tiered Cake vs Cupcakes?

We're going to our cake tasting next week, so I'm starting to get ideas about our wedding cake! I know we still have time, but I'm trying to decide whether we would want a 3 tier cake or a cupcake tower with a small one tier cake on top. What are you guys doing? And do you have any reasons for...

We are doing a cake. I feel like it is a lot more moist as a cake rather than the small cupcakes. We are having 4 tiers.

7 tier dummy hanging cake with sheet cakes in the back. I am a bakery owner and my cake must be on point!

We are doing a 3 tiered cake. When push came to shove and FH and I talked about it, he was more set on a wedding cake. We have had cupcakes at our baby shower and sons birthday party so we wanted something that was special to the day. Plus it was a lot of fun to come up with a cute style we both loved. I can't wait to see what it looks like.

We're doing a 2-tier cake and a cake buffet. So we'll have 5 cakes total. We did this for a couple reasons - it let us adapt to allergens easily, it let us have lots of flavors, and it was cheaper than having 1 big cake. I find cupcakes at weddings to be dry, so I didn't want those.

We decided to get a tiered cake, because to me, cupcakes just do not taste the same as a cake. I know that typically people go with cupcakes for cost reasons, but we were able to save money as well by having a tiered cake for about half of the guests, and a sheet cake for the other half. Two different flavors, both delicious!
