Time line help

Mary, on December 10, 2023 at 9:58 AM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi, I'm trying to figure out my time line for the wedding to see how everything should go. I have 5 bridemaids and I'm also on a limited budget. So some of the bridemaids will be doing their own hair and makeup. I'll be doing one of Maids eye makeup. I've looked up how much time it takes on Google. They suggested 2.5 hours or 1 hour to 1.5 hours. We also have about 50 minutes drive to get to the church. I don't know if I should start the day at 9 am or 10:30 am. I'm planning to have the wedding Ceremony begin at 2 pm. So that we don't have to get up to early. I'm just confused on timing everything. Any thoughts or advice is welcome.

Wedding days can get so hectic/behind schedule that you may very well appreciate the extra 1.5 hours from starting at 9am. I would start at 9a so at least you have some extra time the morning of. I can imagine that would really suck to be stressed out for time the morning of wedding. A 9a start time allows you to relax, take your time, eat some snacks, maybe even play some games or watch TV the morning of to just enjoy the day. Think of any other big day that you may have had in your life (graduations, parties, baby showers, holidays, etc) and most likely there was a slight element of rushing for time. Do yourself a favor and start earlier!

Thank you for the advice. Deffently will be starting at 9 am. I didn't think about relaxing before time or trying to get the wedding day nerves out of the way. Thank you again.

Are you planning to do any first look or bridal party photos before the ceremony? I had a 5pm ceremony start time and we started hair and makeup at 8am. That’s been a pretty standard timeline in all weddings I’ve been in as well. For reference, I had 4 bridesmaids total, including MOH. We also had my mother and my husband’s mother get hair and makeup done. And we went to a salon, so multiple stylists were working with us at a time. I’m glad we started at 8am because we still didn’t even finish all the posed photos before the ceremony started.

I haven't thought about pictures. But I'm going to start working on that and getting some ideas on how long it will take and factor that into planning. I have 5 bridesmaids including MOH. My mother and Malik's mother I believe will not be getting their hair and makeup done. I'm having my second mother helping with the hair and makeup. I'll be doing 2 makeups and 1 hair and makeup. The second mother will be doing MOH and my makeup and hair. So I think I'll talk to everyone to see if we can change the time of when we start to get ready. I'm hoping that if all goes well the ceremony will start at 1:00 pm. I also have to factor in about a 50-minute drive from the house to the church. So I'm going to be looking more for an early morning. Thank you for the suggestion.

Yeah, I would absolutely do it much earlier. We had like 4 stylists working on folks (2 hair and 2 makeup) and the salon was only 15 minutes from the venue. So just based on my experience, I would budget more time, especially as it’ll take you all longer than a professional who does this like every day of their life.

Yeah, so far mostly everyone is ok with an early morning. I've set aside time for pictures and some time to eat and just hopefully time to relax. Everyone will be doing their own foundation. I'm mainly working with the eyes and lips. So hopefully it won't take to long but I do have extra time just in case something doesn't go as planned. Thank you for the advice 😊
