What are your guests doing while you're taking pictures? Is there a cocktail hour? I know for some of my guests 4 would be a little early for cocktail hour but for others they'd drink at 9 am if i let them so it's really a know your crowd for that thing. But I think as long as you have something for your guests during that time frame, it seems fine. If possible you may want to take some of your pictures (you with your girls, your partner with their group, you with your family, partner and their family) beforehand, so that you can fit all of the big group pictures and your pics with just you and partner in that hour & a half

I agree that you need something for your guests to do while you're taking pictures, and 1.5 hours is really long for just socializing and cocktails/appetizers (I'm usually ready to move on by 45 minutes into a cocktail hour). Is there anywhere on-site you could take pictures?

We're planning on: 30 minutes for ceremony; 45 minutes for cocktail hour (and finishing photos); 15 minutes to transition from cocktail hour to seated for dinner; 10 minutes for introductions, first dance, and welcome toast and/or blessing; 1 hour for dinner (with speeches between courses); and 10 minutes for father/daughter and mother/son dance. Cake cutting shouldn't take more than 5 minutes and planning to do it 1 hour before ending since it's traditionally the last "event" of the evening.

Hmmm this is tricky. What did you plan for your guests between the ceremony and dinner? We had an hour and half long cocktail hour, but all of our wedding events were in different spaces and we had a short reception so cocktail hour was pretty much just the mingling part of our dinner, if that makes sense.

Hi Mackenna! This article has great scheduling tips and a sample timeline you can use as a starting point:

I always think it's easiest to work backwards when making your timeline - so start with the end time of 11:30 and work backwards from there!
