Timeline until wedding in 2020

Rachel, on February 26, 2019 at 2:01 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 7
Hey guys so we are planning on getting married in May 2020 and I’m trying to figure out when everything should happen (shower, bachelorette, etc).

We got engaged in October 2018 and my mom offered to host an engagement party for us but we haven’t had it yet due to scheduling issues. We were supposed to have it this May but now my mom is going to be out of town the weekend we planned it.

I know it seems like it’s too late to still have an engagement party but we also aren’t getting married until 2020 so we have a lot of time before then.

Long story short I am trying to figure out when to have the engagement party, bridal shower, and the bachelorette / bachelor parties since the wedding is kind of far away.

Your engagement party should be shortly after you're engaged. I'm not sure if there is an etiquette on a time limit of how long after you're engaged it should be...

Bridal showers and bachelorette parties are much closer to your wedding, but those are up to other people to plan so you shouldn't be worrying about those parties.

I agree, it's pretty late for an engagement party. My bridal shower is in May for our July wedding, and both our bachelorette & bachelor parties are in May. I'd say for those parties they can be anywhere from 1-4 months before.

I just booked my venue for May 2020! FH and I wanted a date/venue secured pretty early and now we can relax and celebrate for a couple of months before looking at vendors. Venue research is the hardest part IMO so it feels good to have it out of the way. For your reference, all the dates we inquired were available except for Memorial Day weekend.

We were engaged in Dec 2018 but don’t have an engagement party planned yet. But the formalities don’t bug me or my family/friends, we may decide to have one in a few months.

I'm getting married September 20 2020 we got engaged Nov 17 2018 planning on having our engagement party September 20,2019 which is also like a meet n greet. I'm having my bacherette party September 17 2020 and my bridal shower brunch/ recovery lol September 18 2020. 4 out of 7 of my bridesmaids are out of town and they are taking some days off so we can fit all the festivities into there. Which we also plan on going dress shopping together September 21 2019 the day after our engagement party just so we can say we actually done some bonding. Hope this helps it shouldn't matter when you have it. It's up to you guys if you want it. Plan when you want it but I wouldn't plan so close to the wedding it might take your focus off that

Our wedding is in April of 2020. Our engagement party is on April 6th and 7th 2019 (we are having 2, one for family and one for friends). My bridal shower and bachelorette party are on the same day, one month before the wedding because we have quite a few bridesmaids and groomsmen from out of town.

Our wedding is in June 27, 2020 and we have some things sorted out.

We are not having an engagement party, no one lives near us and all of our events will require out of town travel for our bridal party/guests/family so we decided to save everyone the extra expense of this party.

IDK when FH is having his bachelor party as they haven't started planning it yet. We are having my Bachelorette party in February/March of 2020 (4 day cruise) and FMIL just let us know she wants to host a bridal shower (I was TOUCHED) so that will probably be in April/May of 2020.

If any of your events require people to travel, just give them some fair warning so they have time to save the money and to get the time off work.
