Timeline

Jess, on June 24, 2019 at 1:18 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 5

Hello everyone,

Today marks 96 Days until the big day! Therefore, I'm starting to put together day of timelines for hair/makeup/getting ready. So my question is how long should I leave in between when hair/makeup finishes and when I have to get dressed? My flowers are arriving at 2:30 pm and bridal photos are beginning at 2:30pm. The ceremony begins at 4:30pm with no first look. So I don't know if I should have hair and makeup finish at 1:30 pm so that way we have 1 hour for pictures in robes/getting dressed pics or if finishing at 2 and only having 30 mins for those photos is enough?

Any advice would be highly appreciated! TIA!

What you have sounds like a good timeline! I did sort of the same but to be honest man I felt rushed the whole day I guess because everything always felt like a time crunch

I think 30 minutes is plenty for “getting ready” photos. If you don’t want a ton of pictures of you and your bridesmaids in your robes, they should only take 10 minutes or so, leaving you with plenty of time to get into your dress.

I'd plan on hair and makeup being ready by 2:00 or 2:15 PM. Then you have half an hour buffer in case anyone takes longer or you need touch ups. It also depends if you want "getting ready" photos. I'd only plan on 15-20 minutes for those and usually the bride is actually ready and it's just final touches.

I agree 30 min is probably enough for the "getting ready" pics, but I'd still consider building in some cushioning so if HMU runs late or something else comes up, it is easy to adapt. Starting with first thing in the morning and running until the ceremony start, daughter built an extra 30 minutes in several times during the day (e.g., extra 30 from the scheduled end of HMU until we needed to be back at the house for lunch/getting ready pics, 30 minutes extra before we had to leave for the venue, an extra 30 beyond what was scheduled for first look & wedding party pics). We never felt like we were running late, but we also never felt like we were hanging around with dead time. All the main events started exactly as scheduled and everybody was incredibly calm all day. If possible, give yourselves the gift of a little extra time!

My ceremony was also at 4:30 pm and photographer arrived at 2:00 pm I had my hair and make up done at 2 pm. This was the photographer was able to take photos of “final touches” and mock up of getting ready. Didn’t took long at all. After this we went straight to bridal photos with robe first and I did myself, the girls and mom and grandma. Then photos all dressed already. Of course we ran behind schedule like most wedding but the timeline was to finish 4 pm photos and use those 30 minutes for crunch time if need it or retouch for ceremony. We finish exactly at 4:30 instead.
