Timeline

Hello!

I'm trying to figure out our timeline for the day. So far I think I have it figured out from the begining of the ceremony. I still need to figure out how long itll take for the girls and I to get ready plus I'd like to have bridesmaids/bride only and groomsman/groom only photos done to get save us time later on so I haven't planned out the 1st part of the day yet but how does everything look so far? Am I allowing enough time for everything? Did I forget anything?

4:00-4:40 Ceremony

445 Guests head to cocktail hour. The reception venue is directly across the street
5-545 Group photos with family and the whole bridal party together
5-530 cocktails for guests

530 Salads served

545 Grand Entrance followed by the 1st dance
600 Buffett opens. Head table gets their food 1st
630 Toasts then cake cutting and serving
700 Mother son dance

705 Father Daughter dance

710 Mother Daughters choreographed dance

715 Bouquet toss

720 Garter toss

730-925 Dancing (750-825 Bride & Groom Golden Hour photos)
925 Line up for sparkler send off while Bride & Groom share a last dance alone
930 Sparkler Send Off

You still have plenty of time to figure out your timeline. That's usually done within the last month before the wedding. I would suggest you talk to your vendors, especially photographer and hair/makeup artist. They were spot on in estimating amount of time for everything when I was putting together my timeline because they're the professionals who do this all the time.

Thank you so much! Needing to talk to vendors is why I havent planned out the first half of my day yet! But thanks for reassuring me that we have plenty of time!

We have our final meeting with our venue & DJ on Friday. On Sunday we have our meeting with our photographer to do our timeline. Usually you figure out the timeline a month prior with your last meetings. I was freaking out about it & overthinking it until a phone conversation with the owner of the venue. He said the details will be worked out at our final meeting.

Hi Megan! This looks great! If you’re having a family member do a blessing for dinner, you can add that. We also had a 4pm ceremony, so we started at the hair salon at 9:00am-12:30pm (I had 8 women including myself). I had to have my dress on by 2:00pm.
I got really Type A with my timeline but it really was worth it. If you want to go “full throttle”, I had when each vendor was to arrive at the venue with their contact info next to the line item (ex: 3:00pm - It Takes the Cake arrives with cake - Phone 555-5555). All my vendors got the same timeline and in case there was a no show or issue, the venue’s day of coordinator could contact them directly (and not me! 😂). Also if a vendor arrived and was locked out, they had the venue’s contact info to reach out directly.
If you are having linens on your tables, be sure the person responsible knows they are to be ironed and on the tables at a certain time before your florist, cake and other setup crew arrives. I know of two weddings where vendors couldn’t start their work because the linens weren’t on the tables yet. I also was told to account for 15 minutes for 100ish guests to take their seats for dinner. Hope this helps!!! ❤️

This is all super helpful! Thank you so much! I'm also being very type-a with how I'm trying to plan it all out so that everything runs as smooth as possible and is perfect! And thank you for the heads up on it taking 15mins for guests to be seated for dinner, We also have around 100 guests attending.

This looks like a solid timeline! Very similar to ours. The morning is where it gets a little tricky depending on how many bridesmaids you have and getting hair/makeup done and coordinating with all the vendors. You have time to figure all that out, but a great start!
