Timing of the Processional

Kristen, on March 15, 2018 at 11:39 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 10

Hi ladies,

How did you time out your processional down the aisle and time it with your music? The song that my fiance and I want for our ceremony is about 3 minutes long.... We definitely want the whole song to play as we feel it will be awkward to cut it off before the song is over.

Any advice on timing this out or is this something I shouldn't worry about until the rehearsal? So far, we plan on doing one at the venue the afternoon before since we have it for the entire weekend

How is the music for your ceremony being done?
We didn't time anything for our processional. We picked a song, the guitarist played it, and my H and I walked to the altar together. The guitarist and DJ handled all that without our input.

I actually spent a lot of time working on the timing to my bridal march because I used one song for all my bridesmaids, flowers girls, ring bearer and me and I wanted it timed to the point where the song builds up and is dramatic for when I made my entrance. I worked it out by basing it on the number of people who had to walk and the length of the song. My song was a little over 4 minutes and my entrance was around the 2.5 minute mark so that meant my 3 BMs each had 30 seconds, 2 flower girls each had about 20 seconds, and the flower girl escorting the ring bearer had about 15 seconds. I visualized this in my head using a stopwatch and then at the rehearsal had my wedding planner use the stopwatch to keep it on time. Everything came out perfectly and I was so excited to see the video of the ceremony after the wedding.

We only had room in the budget for a DJ and not ceremony musicians as well. It will be an instrumental song played from a recording

I am creating a video with my song, and will time it with my 3 bridesmaids and two flower girls. I will put the announcement on the screen of who is walking in so the bridal party wont need to figure out their timing but walk when they see their names on the screen.

I’m kind of doing the same thing, I have one song I want to use for the whole processional with the build up being when I walk down the aisle, can I ask which song you used? I’m curious!

No advice, just popping in because I am having the same dilemma. My song is about 2 minutes 45 second and I have 2 BM's. We are all walking into the ballroom (ceremony site) to the same song. No idea what the guys and parents will be walking in to yet. I'm stumped!

I'm getting married in August 2018. My HB used to be have a radio program where he mixed and merged music. So we picked out 2 songs that will flow one to the other. They will be for the wedding party, I live off the lake and the backyard is very big. By the time they get to the trellis I will be At my mark. At that exact moment the processional music will begin and I begin my walk. The entire thing will take about 9 minutes. We also have a very dramatic wedding song that will be sung. OMG, I'm getting emotional..lol
