Timing!

Melissa, on November 8, 2020 at 11:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
Hi Brides to be! đź’ś
My ceremony starts at 430, I’m having a bridal team for hair and makeup coming to my venue, what would be a good “ready by time”. I want to make sure we have plenty of time to take pictures etc. Thank you!

It depends on how big your bridal party is and how long your MUA and hairstylist thinks it will take to do everyone. I would definitely start by 10AM though

Are you planning to do a first look? I would double check with your photographer, but I would think that if you started pictures/were ready at 1:30 or 2, you'll have enough time to do first look (if you're doing one), wedding party photos, and many of the family photos before the ceremony. Otherwise, you can still do some of the wedding party photos beforehand if you're not doing a first look. You and the bridesmaids can take photos together, and your fiance and the groomsmen can take their photos together. If not doing a first look, maybe be ready by 3? Your photographer would have a better idea of what time photos should start at.

Ask them what time to start for the number of people you are having, which they should already have from when you booked them. They do this every weekend so have it down to a science.

Our ceremony started at 4 pm and we weee ready at 2 pm for photos. But our ceremony was at the site where we got ready so we didn’t need to travel.

Definitely coordinate with your photographer on the timeline.

I also had a 4:30 ceremony start time, and we wanted to do a first look. I needed to be mostly ready by 12:45 to get some "getting ready" shots, hop into my dress, etc., before first look photos at 1:30. (We also did wedding party pictures and such beforehand.)

Once you and your photographer figure out the timeline, you can share that with your hair/makeup artists and they will work backwards to put together a schedule for you based on how many people are getting services. For example, we all had to be at the venue around 8/8:15 to get settled, with the first person starting to get dolled up at 8:30.

Our wedding is starting at 4 & I’ve talked to my photographer about the timeline. We’re not getting ready at the venue (way too expensive) so we’re getting ready at my parents house. Photographer wants us there by 2 so he can take pics of me getting ready & pics outside. Wants FH & groomsmen there by 230 so they can take their pics.
Talk with your photographer about the timeline.

We got married at 4:30 pm and hair and makeup started at 8 am and was done by 2 pm and everyone was dressed by 2:30 pm. I did a first look with my dad, my husband did photos with his peeps and I did separate photos with my peeps then a first look with my husband then I went back to the getting ready room so guests wouldn't see me for about 20 minutes then we lined up and rode the elevator done to the lobby where we got married. We had one hairstylist and one makeup artist. The hairstylist was supposed to have an assistant, but she was unable to make it due to a family emergency so the makeup artist came early to assist. We had a total of 8 people for hair which included 2 children and 1 person that just got a blowout and 5 for makeup including 2 children.

I got married at 5PM and started getting ready at 2PM (at the venue).

But, we did not do a first look, and my BP did their own hair and makeup.

This is a question for your photographer and HMUA.

Have you done a trial? If you do a trial, you will know how long it takes to get ready.

My ceremony time is also set to start @ 4:30. I am having the hair and make-up artist arrive at our venue at 8:30am because she will be doing hair and makeup for a total of 8 people (my Mom, Mom #2, 5 bridesmaids/maid of honor, and myself). So it will be an early start to a long day, but thankfully we will have mimosas in order to help! Smiley smile
