Tip for venue?

We tipped our Venue’s Event Director. She was fantastic and nailed every detail from start to finish. It was not required or customary, and we knew she already shared in the Service Fee we paid as part of our contract. But the purpose of tips is to recognize outstanding service, so we wanted to recognize that. We also gave our Event Captain (think head waiter) an additional tip as he went above and beyond as well.

Never heard of that. Some vendors such as catering will automatically charge a tip called gratuity, same as if you have a group out to dinner. That will be detailed in your itemized contract. Beyond that, you don’t tip anyone unless they go above and beyond the call of duty and wait until after the honeymoon when you can assess the service objectively. On their own, a venues in general don’t need to be tipped.

Hi Jennifer! You should definitely tip the bartenders & waitstaff, and tip the venue based on the total food bill. Tipping the day of coordinator is up to you!
