Tipping at Sandals

MeantToBeAKennedy, on October 5, 2016 at 10:18 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6

So I know at Sandals you aren't supposed to tip the waitstaff or bartenders, but you are supposed to tip your drivers and butlers. For those who have vacationed at Sandals before, how much did you tip these people? And for the butlers, did you just leave one large tip at the end of your trip or did you tip them every day or every time they did something for you? I have no idea what proper tipping etiquette is here, and I don't want to unintentionally stiff anyone!

We didn't have a butler at Sandals but my sister did. She said they tipped him one big one at the end!

Be careful with tipping at Sandal's. If you choose to tip, do it very secretly as they can lose their jobs for accepting tips. They work very hard and deserve extra so my husband and I always tip those who give us extra service. You'll love it!

Dianna - Even butlers? We got a little packet from them that explained absolutely no tipping with the exception of butlers. It just didn't give any indication how much was appropriate.

Is this all all-inclusives? FH and I are going to Mexico in 2 weeks and I have never been to one before. I have no idea about tipping for that type of resort.

Sara - I don't think the tipping limitations are necessarily true for all all-inclusives, I think that might just be a Sandals thing. I would certainly check with your resort though so you don't bring any more cash than necessary, but definitely have enough!
